Were they yours from the start or did you buy them recently?

Let me explain better.

All those old 50's, 60's 70's and 80's basses you have, did you buy them originally and keep them or did you Buy them within the last ten or so years?

I have a '60 P that I bought in 1971. It was a real beater, so I was able to talk the seller down from $75 to $65, cause that was all I had on me at the time.

I had a '75 P that I had from the beginning. Bought it new. But I sold it last year.

I have an '81 Ric that I bought used in 1986. I also have a 1988 Steinberger XL-2 that I bought new.

Pretty much everything else was made in the last 10 years, and bought by me in the last three years or so.

I have an '83 T-40 that I purchased last year.

Unfortunately, I was a guitar player in the 60's and 70's. However, I did buy a '61 Gibson Les Paul Jr. in the early 70's with a combination of money I saved from Christmas, birthdays and my paper route.

'55 P-bass (in '73).

My '59 PBass was purchased in 1973. the '78 Ric was bought in 1980, and my '86 Ibanez RB885 was purchased new.

I have a 77 ripper that I bought in 91, an 89 ibanez exb that I got in 90, and my 81 t-40 I just got last month. and I'm thinking of picking up a t-20 but I'm not sure what year it is

I bought all my basses in my profile within the last 8yrs. Been playing for 20yrs now though. But my 1988 Mesa amp I bought in '91 and still is my main/favorite amp to use.

Two of the 80's basses I have I bought new in the 80's. One of the 80's basses I have I bought used in the 90's. I no longer have any of my 70's basses...and I haven't since the 70's. But at the time some were bought new & some were bought used. I've never bought a 20+ year old bass.

The only bass I have from those decades is my 1983 Squier JV series P which I bought a couple of years ago. The longest I have owned a bass is around 5 years - been playing for 16 years. I usually buy new. The basses I have now are keepers, I've got no intention of selling any of them. Of course... I may add to them!

Bought my 61 jazz in 83. Bought my 53 P as a basketcase in 91. I had 3 late sixties/ early seventies P basses but traded or sold during my post college "career" period(stupid,stupid, stupid)in the late eighties. Bougt a 78 Guild B301 two years ago. All the rest of my basses are low end project ps and js bought used at pawn shops or on ebay in the last 2-3 years. Wish I could get another early seventies maple neck p, but the money is not there right now.

I picked up my '72 Gibson SB300 in 1999, but it's not really considered as desirable as EBs from the same period so it was only $550.
