So how much did I screw up?

So, after knowing a good friend of mine for about 10 years (yes female) and loving her for about 2 1/2, I told her how I feel. Via e-mail, because Ive moved to study. Now, I feel like a buttload of crap, considering how lame I was typing to such a good friend with such an important message over mail.. But hey, its 01:23 AM over here.

So by making this alternative MM thread, how much did this person (me) mess up in this situation?

I don't think you screwed up too much. Something like that is better said in person, but with communication technology these days, it isn't exactly uncommon to do what you have done. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Your honesty is the most important thing. True, it would have been better in person, or on the phone, but email is WAY better than hiding oyur feelings. Even if it never amounts to anything, you did the right thing.

I know exactly how you feel. I recently went through a very similar situation with my best friend. My situation was a bit more complicated, but it still took all I had to grow a set and tell her. I'm very glad I did.

I would guess that most likely, she's going to be weirded out and say no. I wouldn't consider it a major loss or screwup on your part though.

It went as well as it possibly could have. Like I said, it's complicated. If other things were different, our friendship would have most likely become more. But, we are both cool knowing that our lives are good as they are and we have no secrets.

I don't think you screwed up anything. This is the age of e-mail and text messaging, so those kinds of messages are becoming more and more typical.

Let's see what she says, and then we'll know for sure. Keep us in the loop.

IMHO Never tell a women you love her. SHOW HER. There is no question that honesty is very important, but so is CHALLENGE. Men that women desire and chase represent a challenge. Something she can't have. Every man she has ever known has probably gushed over how much they love her. You can be different. Love her with everything except words.

Come on now, you can't say that. How your co-worker feels could be completely different from how his friend feels, and he may not have screwed up at all.

It depends on how she resonds to an extent, but it sounds like you were honest and thats not such a bad thing. Weigh the pros and cons.

I dont think it was particulary bad, since we are such good friends she will probably understand me.

If she doesnt feel the same back, that doesnt matter much really. I just needed to tell her
