so i bought a new ibanez

I own one. I like a lot of things about it, but absolutely hate the pickup as a thumbrest. I find it uncomfortable to the point that I haven't played it in a few months. There's no good place for an aftermarket thumbrest, either. This is all in my opinion. Other people's right hand technique might not be affected.

In summary, I really like the bass but the one thing I don't like about it might lead me to sell it. The end.

No, I bought it here. Wouldn't have mattered if I did, though. It isn't the kind of "holy crap that hurts" uncomfortable that jumps out as soon as I pick it up. It begins as a "huh, I wasn't expecting the screw cutout on the pickup to be that noticeable" and graduates into "Damn, that is freaking annoying" after about 30-45 minutes of playing.

i recently sold my atk 5 string. i had it since 97. it's was a good bass but i hadn't used it in a long time. i was using it strictly as a live back up for a stingray 5. the only thing i didn't like was that it was heavy. for the price it couldn't be beat. mine was an older korean made one, i have not played the newer ones so i don't know how good they are now. i might want to eventually get another one. i always put my thumb in the little gap where the screw is in the pickup.
