I was asked to fill in several months ago. I didn't really pay any particular attention to what the gig was I just knew the bass player couldn't make it, and I said yes.

For the past several weeks, I've been thinking that I'll be playing a singles mixer. I just got clarification about when to be there, where to be and what's going on........

As it turns out I'm playing at a hotel for a swingers party! I'm pretty sure I know why the bass player couldn't make it, or should I say wasn't allowed to play?

I'm not really sure what to expect, but I have a feeling there's probably going to be quite a bit of traffic between the party and the guest rooms.

My biggest concern: What does the bass player wear (or not) for a swingers soiree?

And also you might want to refrain from calling it a "fill in" gig... ifyaknowwaddImean... wink-wink-nudge-nudge

We're doing lots of 80's metal. So as long as I don't get too Lubed Up, I think it should be tons of fun. I'll be winging a lot of stuff though. My goal is to stay sharp and try to pay attention to what I'm playing.

Swingers party and nudist colony are two different things, I'm thinking.

Swingers party I'm pretty sure people will be clothed at least to some degree. And by law there's only a certain degree of nekkedness and gettin' it on that the hotel can allow in a public/group space so at some point people are gonna pair off and head to the rooms to get down to business (which would actually be my biggest concern... how much a crowd are you actually gonna have left by halfway through the gig?).

Now if this party were happening at a private residence it would be anything goes, anywhere... but since the gig is at a hotel I would be really surprised if it actually winds up being an orgy scene in front of the stage.

Dress nicely, with some class, if its at a nice hotel and nto some motel 6. Being that they are hiring entertainment, it'll be a somewhat classy affair.

At parties Ive been to, about half the people there just mingle and stay clothed. I'd think since this is at a hotel, it might even be more.

True. Though, even at private residences, most of the action tends to stay indoors, in bedrooms. Well, aside from the jacuzzi.
