No offence, but it sounds to me like you're trying to justify a habit. More than 5 cups a day has been shown to cause tremors, a quick heart rate, augmented urination, anxiety, apprehension, stomach disturbances and sleeplessness. Studies have also shown that long term, high level consumption can lead to high blood pressure and increased risk of heart attack or stroke. Heavy caffeine consumption (8 or 9 cups of coffee a day) has also been related to osteoporosis.
No offense taken; of course it's a habit. But I volonteered for a sleep study at a medical research facility, and there was nothing wrong with my sleep. In fact, I don't even feel any particular buzz even after the quadruple morning coffe, so no ill effects, other than an upset stomach.
Augmented urination is a benefit. I wouldn't expect to drink a litre of coffe and pee less. Yes, I pee a lot. Makes for great breaks at work . I haven't started looking like a raisin yet, so there appears to be no permanent dehydration at hand.
For the other effects... Maybe. Last time I had my blood pressure checked it was something like 110/60. I donate blood 4 times per year, so it's being checked. Getting lower every time, probably due to increased excercise.
Certainly, if you get the heebeejeebies from coffee, stay off of it. I'll stay addicted and enjoy reduced risk for diabetes, Parkinson's disease and colon cancer. As always, YMMV...
