so, I'm going to jail ...maybe?

Is it also true that spitting your gum on the street or littering are both criminal offences?

Dude. Selling, importing (i guess, smuggling), or eating gum is already an offence, unless for health reasons.

Yes, and yes.

Rarely enforced, though. And makes for a nice clean place to live.

PS Oh, yeah, and you can't smoke in malls, non-airconditioned malls, covered carparks, bus stops, eateries, covered walkways and all that.

Do you think prosecutors and the police ever look at TalkBass as the basis for appeals/re-trials etc. ? :p

No, I think he's pretty safe now. The case is done, so he can tell us about it.

I'm curious what the original charge was. A speeding ticket that is a Class 1 misdemeanor with a $2500 fine is no ordinary speeding ticket.

it was an 84/55 which in Virginia traffic law 20 over the speed limit or 80+ regardless of speed limit is automatically a charge for reckless driving. This was, in fact, not a speeding ticket.

On a side note, there were a LOT of military ...just about 20% in my court room alone, most facing the same or DUI charges. I guess the boys just let loose on their off-duty days.

Well, the smoking laws are the same in Canada, for the most part (I know they are enforced in my province, dont know about quebec though, theyre bass-ackwards :D). But really wow gum is ILLEGAL! That's surreal, man!

I got a speeding ticket on Sunday on my way to church (of all things) and it's automatically a class 1 misdemeanor that could mean jail time, a suspended license and/or up to a $2500 fine. No prior offenses. Would you recommend hiring an attorney?

Move out of the god awful police state that you live in. When a man can serve jail time for speeding why does no one care? Did you kill someone while speeding? I just hope the economy gets so bad that non violent offenders will never have to face jail time.

Yes get a sleeze ball lawyer.

ok there big guy, calm down with the insult alright? ;) hahaha

we have smoking laws in effect now too
all smoking must happen outdoors and no closer than 9 meters from all public buildings

put that in your pipe and smoke it
