im confused about how much running a pedal before or after another can affect a sound. can someone maybe explain it?

also, i am looking into getting some pedals to add to my sound and was wondering if this would be a bad idea

bass>odb-3>bass big muff pi(dont have yet)>sansamp rbi.

i probably sound stupid but everyone didnt know something at one point right?

Here are my thoughts, take them for what they are worth.

The ODB-3 is a very industrial sounding pedal and the Big Muff (and I assume the Bass Big Muff, I haven't tried it) is a very smooth fuzz. You should always try every combo yourself, but my gut says they won't play nice together. That said, they are very different sounds and so it would make sense to have both if you like the sounds.

On the other hand, I haven't used the RBI but I'm guessing it will be very similar to the BDDI where running a dirt pedal into it will give a very compressed and cutting tone. If you have a solid state amp I think running the Boss into the RBI will give it a much better tone IMO, and the Big Muff will sound very focused.

yeah i was thinking about it. but i just dont know if i have to cash to drop on it. i plan on getting my rack setup. i still have to buy a power amp, tuner, prolly power conditioner, and the rack itself haha.

but i was thinking that they might work if i didnt take each of the pedals to the extreme. the bass big muff has a dry option if om correct. i think that it might work but either way, i like both pedals and i also love my friends rat

For the record, I do run a BBM into an ODB-3 on occasion (both with lots of gain, that's just the way I do things), and it gives you a massive, noisy, almost synthy fuzz. I can't imagine too many styles it would work for, but for anything heavy and noisy, it's bloody wonderful.

FWIW, you'll find there are quite a few people who bash the ODB-3. Personally, I think it's just a stigma (IMO, of course), and it's a very useable pedal - IF it's a sound you go for. For the low low price, I say they can't be beat. I'm actually considering picking up a second used ODB-3 to have multiple settings available.
