So, is that how it is?

attitude[/I]. Approval is a lot like a bank loan: you tend to get it only when you can demonstrate that you don't really need it... :hmm:

Lighten up dude! You must have daddy issues or something. My dad is proud of my playing after more than 20 years of doing it. You can't expect all dads to just "get it" right out of the gate. Why in the world would you want to get an "attitude" with your dad over one silly comment? And from what I've seen over the years, those who walk the world acting as though they don't need anyone's approval are just cocky a$$holes.

To the OP, a lot of non-musicians just don't understand why we would choose the bass over the more "flashy" instruments. It's no big deal. I'm sure you don't quite understand why he chose his career either. Let it slide and don't worry about it. If YOU are having fun, that's all that counts.

please forgive me if im wrong on your intended target, but i really dont think the OP cared as much about his dad 's opinion as you may think. more so he was shocked his dad of all people had that opinion towards the bass.

meaning "geez how many people actually think this!?" as a general thing.

and everyone wants some apporval on their instrument and abilities, it is just human nature. its a stink situation when the only impressed people are weirdos and fat chicks lol. whilste the guitarist and singer are raking in applause central just because they chose "the popular" instrument.
