Well I have a Carlos Robli P bass thats was given to me that was the old church bass, well I fixed it up for the most part but I feel its time to buy a new guitar. Personally I want a 5 string around the 500 - 800 range. Any brands or models anyone can suggest for someone who plays worship music and heavier music.

Warwick RockBass. I can't seem to find the 5 string versions on GuitarCenter or Musiciansfriend but I wouldn't buy one yet. Warwick has a new RockBass lineup coming up soon with a better bridge (Warwick 2 Piece) and new models. Heres a link for specs.

I like it, I have the black one and after you swap the Strings. It should sing. If you like Spector, I would look up a Spector Legend 5.

you might want to take a look at the Ibanez SR505. It's a sweet sounding bass with an even sweeter feel. Perfect for church stuff and it'll switch over to heavier stuff no problem.
from my experience of trying out and playing different basses in stores. ibanez seem to have one of the lightest bodies and weigh the least in my opinion. schectors to me felt a lot heavier than ibanez. i own the ibanez sr500 which is pretty much the same thing as the 505 except mine has 4 strings. the sound is great. it will definently suit ur needs.
Why not? They're great instruments and even the cheaper models are very good for the money. I've played many, many Ibanez basses and never had a problem.
On the other hand, my Rockbass died. It was the sound check of the first gig I was about to play with the Rockbass and BOOM, it starts making awful noise. Well, I unplug, wait a few seconds, plug it back. Works for 5 seconds and goes nuts again. Turned out that the El Cheapo battery connector had failed and shorted the battery. That was my first and last Rockbass and my last active as well. Don't know if they have fixed the issues but I just don't trust them anymore.
Yeah, that's not a bad idea. I have one of those as well and it's a great bass, but very different from the Ibanez. (ok so actually I have an Ibanez SR500, but I've played the 505 and the feel is almost the same). The L2.5K is a good deal heavier than the Ibanez and it feels a lot more like a beefier and more articulate Fender.
I think the preamp on the SR505 leaves much to be desired.
The G&L Tribute L2500 on the other hand is an excellent first bass in that price range.
