So maybe I have too many…

So once upon a time I responded to a Craigslist ad about 40 miles from our house. My lady was looking for an acoustic guitar (she has an amazing voice, both parents sang and were multi instrumentalists from guitar to sax to accordion ect). We get there and we have to walk behind a garage and up some outside stairs (mind you it was January and ice everywhere). He unlocks the door and wall to wall are hard acoustic cases.... he says wait a minute I'll be right back with the acoustic we were interested in. 10 minutes later he emerges with not only the one we were looking into but also its matching counter part which is a smaller body. Serial numbers within 4 of eachother and I swear the Mahogany is from the same boards with the way they match up. Needless to say we bought both. After talking for awhile he takes us to the other rooms which are even more packed with acoustic guitars.

THIS IS WHERE IT GETS FUNNY....

He says, "I'm a drummer."

He gave us a great deal on the set and I still have his number.

Funny to think people rent apartments for their gear.

What makes it even funnier... we were showing my lady's cousin the guitars and start in on the story and he interjects with "does he live in Windsor?"

He too had responded to another CL ad of his a day later.

Small world.
I'd love to meet someone like that!

I have 3 guitars, a cheap Hamer Strat copy and an Epiphone Airscreamer (because it looked like my travel trailer) and a 12 string acoustic someone left here.

I have 3 acoustic basses and 5 (I think) 5-string basses that I never touch.

And 126 other basses, all 4-string; 7 of those are fretless (I think).

F***!!!!!! I just realized I don't have a 6-string bass. Dambit!!!!!

And you're somebody? What a kind and friendly remark, I guess I forgot the measure of a person was contingent on the number of basses they had. And you having guitars subtracts from your bass count, so your at net 13, which is less than OP. Go figure

Ha, ha: you know why they invented the emoticons, don't you? My entry was just intended as a "friendly" remark. That's all! The bass community in general, and this on Talkbass in particular, is well known to be hilarous, mature and absolutely friendly in the largest and best possible way; I don't know how to tell better, given my rather limited knowledge of the jargon on english language. In other words: I did not have any intention to be offensive or something. And... no: it is NOT the number of basses that defines a quality bassplayer, as well as the amount of money on the bank account does not define a human being. But... (listen to this!) I can give you a lesson in mathematics. I wrote: "18 basses and 5 guitars here" that is 18 basses (eighteen) plus 5 guitars (five). If anything, it would be 23 axes in total!!! Relax, man: there's worse on this planet, currently...
