So Talkbass Has A Store Now...

I don't want the forum content to get spammy, so we're not going to offer more avenues to CU's to post in the forums. Display advertising and sponsored forums are available, as you are aware. Like you said, for private conversation, just contact April via the contact form :)

I have had two posts deleted. Two posts that were pointing out information that is public in the CUP of this website.

There was also a post that was deleted when this thread was first started...

Wed, Jun 15, 2016 at 4:34 PM (Pacific Time). A user saying "I'll still be buying from you..."

I don't think the user deleted it as I don't think they can. But now this thread is officially being censored. What else is / will be?

If you are going to censor my posts and leave your information public then this most definitely is not "equals."

AFAIK I can delete any post I've ever made. If it has been quoted, that quote is beyond my grasp though.

If you want to argue policy, please contact a moderator. I deleted one post that quoted private information from our private conversation. The other was in violation of this site's terms of service. Maybe take a breather and relax a bit?

The other was in violation of the sites terms of service? Responding to your claim against me?

Users can delete their own posts, though I think there's a limit of when they can (might be like after 30 days they can't edit/remove).

This thread is getting pretty silly. I realize Paul insists that it is a "level" playing field, but it's obvious that it is not. If it was level, why not just spin up an independent store, with no ties to TB? Well, because Paul et. al. want to leverage TB of course. I don't think both "sides" are really going to see eye to eye, and things are going to remain as they are. Going around and around about it is not doing anyone any favors :)

House always wins - especially if you make sure to always play by the rules!

You're absolutely right I want to leverage TalkBass! I'm going to use TalkBass' unsold inventory to display banner ads. I'm going to use TalkBass' facebook page to let folks know we have shirts, and I'm going to leverage TalkBass' SEO ranking to sell strings. Does not talkbass have a right to do this? The only paying BG advertiser that is a retailer we're in competition with is Sweetwater, and from their lack of response to my email I don't think they care or are threatened at all about a TB store.

I am not going to use the forums to post about ads about the store. So you could say that the forums are in fact independent of the store. If it's hard to believe, just wait and see what happens.

You mean back in the vbulletin days? I thought vbulletin allowed signatures...

It did. It required a supporting membership IIRC, but it always allowed it. I've had links to my sites up for my entire membership.

Such as the notification supporting members got?

Again, I don't have a dog in this fight. Just don't try to play it off as a "level playing field", when it very much isn't. You have many options available to you to use/abuse as you see fit, that others do not. Most people will trust that you don't abuse those.

I also find it odd that signatures are now visible for me... when it's a setting I specifically set to hide them. :P

Roger that. Touche. Thought a little alert coupon (not posted on the forums) wouldn't seem so spammy. No more coupons for Supporting Members :crying:

I promise I didn't edit your preferences.

I'm thinking it had more to do with whatever maintenance recently happened, as around the same time my theme reverted from "DARK" to "SOCIAL".

Coupons are fine, but agian, how many thousands of people did you reach directly with an alert (and email)? I'm only using that as an example of how things are not a level playing field, not as an example of something I think should or should not be done.
