I brought in my Dean ML BASS and a freshman said "wow that looks just like Dimebags bass" I wanted to slap said person. Needless to say when he was called on this he said "oh i know he doesnt play bass I was just saying" but it was obvious the poor kid had no clue. Anybody have problems with people comparing guitarists basses? Or problems like listed above? I laughed quite after this to be honest but I was simply shocked at this. I just wanted to Let you guys know :)

Eh, ML Basses do look like ML guitars......

Dimebag played ML's, ergo, your ML looked like Dimes guitar......

So maybe, he ment it more like, "that looks like a bass Dimebag would play"

Yea, why would you be shocked that someone thought that your bass, which shares a body style with a famous guitarist's guitar, looked like said guitarist's guitar?

well at least he knew it was a bass. whenever i pull mine out (yes the bass u pervs lol) they usually say "oooooh nice GUITAR, i didnt know you play GUITAR" or sumting like that. i always get pissed and tell them its a bass

Hmm...

kind of unrelated to the OP, but this reminds me of "Rock 'n' roll" club at school last year. I was the only bass player. When we all brought in our instruments to jam, the five guitarists all had the EXACT SAME squier affinity strat. They were even all the same color! Pretty wierd moment IMO.
