So ummm...Rob Ford

3). How is dictating what people can't wear in Canada not a violation of rights and freedoms? That's a slippery slope but if you think not you're entitled to it.

You seem to lack a basic understanding of what a right or freedom really is. Dress codes are common and often mandatory in many jobs and professions. Even the person who cleans tables at McDonald's has to wear the company uniform. That is a job requirement and is NOT a violation of their human rights.

You are partially correct sir.

The violation of human rights comes into play when the person cleaning tables at McDonald's while wearing their mandatory company uniform is discriminated against by not being allowed to be drunk and/or high on crack while doing it!

I wasn't even aware that McDonald's cleaned their tables, but I digress...

And for his next television appearance:

This guy is pretty unique, no doubt.

I'm fascinated by his behavior in this scandal about his personal life. And, it is entirely about his personal life (as far as I can tell)

Is he bad for the City? Or, is he just bad for the image of the City?

I can see how people with their own very well hidden secrets can admire this guy for standing up to the invasion of his privacy. The dude is essentially spied on 24/7 by the media (SUN) that hated him at the get go. They even predicted that this debacle was inevitable before he was elected.

It will be interesting to see how it pans out - and the legal maneuvering that is about to be thrown down!

(I do not admire this guy and I would not want him to be my Mayor, but he is going to be a fantastic case study for some time to come)

I don't think he's bad for the city. The politicians, playing politics would want to suggest that he is. But the city's functioning just fine.

Rob Ford's shenanigans have done more to promote the great city of Toronto than any tourism board could ever hope to!

In many ways I think he's a breath of fresh air in that he's very real and very flawed.

I found it very telling when Rob's brother asked Denzil Minnen-Wong ( TO Councillor ) if he'd ever smoked marijuana. DMW refused to answer the question! If he hadn't he'd have said 'No. Never.'

Holier than thou!

I don't believe RFs harshest critics are any better than he is.

I think all successful politicians are unscrupulous liars.

As a resident of Toronto and one who voted for Robby, I feel I should chime in...
Ford is the exact opposite of our previous Mayor as Ford is definately more of a right leaner, then the previous left winger we had for two terms. Generally speaking, in Toronto, the suburbs tend to be right leaning people and the "downtown" area, more leftist. For years, the suburbs have watched our taxes rise, with seemingly no end to spending, without any apparent concern from city hall as to value for money or the suburbs for that matter.
In comes Robby who is the exact opposite, save money, get value for money and eliminate the city's unions who have held the city for ransom on a regular basis. Yah, we knew that he was rough around the edges. We didn't care because he was causing the lefties to squirm and dam, it was gratifiying!
And that's where I believe that most of Robby's support still comes from. So many in this city are fed up with the leftist council, wasted spending etc, that they were willing to put up with Robby's "edge", in order to see the "spenders" squirm.
Well, typical of Ford, he kinda pushed things way past the line and is now paying the price.
I wouldn't be surprised if in next year's election, Robby makes a contest out of it. There is still more than enough distain for past governments over spending, that he could actually win again, unless of course another right leaning politician can provide the electorate with an alternative.
Personally, I find the whole thing incredibly entertaining! I can hardly wait for the next shoe to drop... and I am having way too much fun, trying to figure out how Robby is going to top last weeks mess, this week.
