So ummm...Rob Ford

I agree with some of your statement, I think somewhere between David Miller and Rob Ford lies the perfect mayor. As far as the tax savings go, I haven't really seen any big changes, other than the garbage collections privatization, what else has he done? Tried to close a few libraries and zoos. Even garbage collections cost comparison analysis are far from determined. The city estimated a 20% annual savings with privatization. I'd like to see the real numbers in 5 or 10 years. The average garbage man in the city of Toronto makes $25 an hour, the private firm Turtle Island garbage man makes $23.. i don't think neither is overpaid for a truly crappy job?
The problem is we all want the services but don't want to pay for them.
The reality is that Toronto residents pay the lowest tax mill rate in Ontario, .875 vs the highest being Oshawa at 1.78.
What really kills me is that the 905'rs (residents just outside of Toronto) pay a portion of their taxes to go to the city of Toronto.
Just my 2 cents

How is a clown mayor going to affect the sale of resources that everyone needs? The combined GDP of the prairie provinces is slightly larger than Ontario. The population is one third of Canada. How does Ford affect us? He doesn't. Nobody over here I talk to is embarrassed. The world needs our resources and food, they don't give a hoot that a clown is mayor when they need oil.

King maker? What you trying to say, that for sure the next pm will be NDP? Because the mayor of TO smokes crack? That's funny.

Spit it out how world wide jokes will fiscally hurt Canada? In the end, show me the money.

You say it will hurt Canada but have yet to give an example how. How will it hurt exports that in fact are all that matter. People need the stuff we have and a crack smoking mayor won't change that.

MARION BERRY look him up. Mayor of DC, arrested with crack red handed and returns to politics! In DC!!

He was also promptly stripped of almost all his powers by Congress!

This affects a huge portion of Canada, 1/6 people in Canada live in the GTA! It has the possibility to affect investment in Toronto, ect. It also plays huge on the Federal and Provincial level because you can't win power in either, without winning a large portion of Toronto. Saying it doesn't affect the rest of Canada is like saying that smoking crack in a drinking stupor is a good thing for a mayor to do.

I'm not Canadian. I get your point(s). I think Tbird's right though-investment? Nah. As far as voting- the only guy it hurts is himself, maybe. The news makes it look like Canada is ok with it.
At the end of the day, life goes on, with or without him.
We will continue to buy your lumber, oil and whatever else it is we buy from you.

Some people think so (Toronto) but it ain't so. You gotta show me the money.

It as if he thinks that the Ford situation will change minds about building natural gas pipelines or something. In the CASH world there are bigger fish to fry than Ford.

People won't buy our grain, minerals and raw materials because of Ford? You've got to be kidding me.

Political actors weighing in? Let me tell you, next week the words they say about Ford to sell advertising for a network along with a dollar fifty will buy them a coffee. The media is courting comments from politicos. It's not like the president of France is at a press conference talkin about wine exports and our of the blue is saying "...btw Rob Ford needs to go or we won't buy Canadian aluminum."
