I voted Black, but honestly it would probably look great with either, what a gorgeous finish. I have a dark blue bass with black hardware and I like the contrast.

I will also respectfully disagree that black hardware ages poorly. I have black hardware on a '90 Peavey and a '00 Modulus, and neither set looks old, faded, etc. Also, I am firmly in what I suppose is a minority Please No Gold Hardware camp, so glad to see you are keeping it black or chrome!

Black & gold hardware have their moments, but IMHO this is not one of them.
That blue burst ought to get plenty of attention as-is. I think black hardware would just be too much garlic in the soup.
But that's just me...

Black for my taste. The finish has enough pop on its own and to my eyes chrome would be overload. I have an esthetic allergy to gold hardware.

The problem with black is it won't stay black and worn black hardware looks crummy to me. New black would look great on that lovely bass but in a few years it may look just worn out and dumpy. Just cleaning it wears the black off. NICKEL for me please, not chrome. Nickel has that warm brownish glow while chrome has a bluish glare.

I've been using black hardware (Hipshot) for a couple decades now on a bunch of basses, and don't have a single spot where its "worn". Some black finishes wear, some don't.

POLISHED chrome. Top to bottom. Hipshot A style bridge in Aluminum polished chrome finish, Hipshot Polished chrome ultralite tuners. Hipshot chrome 3 string tree, Dunlop dual straplock buttons, and if so inclined , a polished neck pickup cover. Pearl or metallic blue guard too. Finding a contrasting color guard that works with that finish may be difficult. Stick with monochrome +chrome harware….killin

Yours reminds me of a Bacchus I outfitted in chrome. Chrome works.

Black will make the color "pop". Chrome will detract from it, IMO.

Looks beautiful! If your gut told you black, go with black. It'll look amazing with those block inlays, and I think black and purple are a match for the ages.

For whatever reason, chrome just doesn't do it for me these days. Black would be (and these days always is) my choice, and it would really pop the black in the word around the edges. Regarding the painter, I agree with @CamJazzBass. Good work.

Another vote for black. Normally I'd say chrome. But with the black blocks and binding, definitely black. Personally, I would swap out the nut to black also.
