So, what do y'all do for a living?

So, what is it that you do?

Me? I'm a project Manager at a sheetmetal shop.
We hand-build anything from small trays for laboratories to huge vessels and cyclones for dust collection in industry.
Here is a pic. This was built from flat sheet & structural iron....all made from scratch so to speak:

my dad worked 32 years at a steel castings plant - they had enormous dust collectors.. you just brought back some memories. :)

Great, glad to bring back good memories.
I was a Quality Assurance Manager in a cast-iron foundry in the early 80's. Tough job casting metal, but good experience.

My Dad is no longer with us, but he too was a Foundryman for many years.
Small world.
Regards, Dave

you mentioned in another thread you lived in SA off Zarzamora in 82'... ever hear of KO Steel Castings?

No, I worked for Consolidated foundry from 80-82. We cast from Halliburton & National oil pumps.

I loved S.A., but had to leave during the oil bust. Couldn't find work in my chosen field.

But S.A. is such a beautiful city with so much to do. Henry Cisneros was our Mayor and a damn fine person.

Texas is such a proud state and rightfully so. I had a blast there when I was young. Used to ride my Harley to Canyon Lake and check out the girls. Brackenridge park and another park on the west side was the place to hang out back then....I forgot the name.

Working cashier at wally-world, trying to figure out what I want to go back to school for since my chosen career got outsourced and cheapened to the point that job offers pay less than my walmart pay (pc technician).

Still looking for something fun and worthwhile that I could tolerate doing for the rest of my life... since I'll never be able to retire.

This thread comes up ever 6-8 months, and I never get tired of responding.

I play bass for the Federal Government.

Currently unemployed. Graduated university, took a year off of school to work. Ended up getting a job as a screening officer at the airport. Worst job ever. Only thing that kept me going was my triumphant return to the world of academia. Which is still a month and a half away, I'm getting a bit antsy with not much to do. At least I've been practicing lots lately.

I work as a Sales Rep. for a European Logistics Service Provider, DSV Solutions. We provide warehousing and distribution solutions for (mainly) US-based companies.

As an example, next to my office the complete European inventory of Fender is located.Always nice to walk in the Quality Inspection area on friday afternoon..
