So what does a $25k bass actually get you?

They actually most likely have to call their accountant first and get it all worked out. Which account(s) is the money coming from, etc. All I said was that I doubt they walk around with 25 grand their wallets. That's just not a good idea.
Please tell me you didn't think I was saying they walk around with 25k in cash money in their wallets.

Hey I know LOTS of guys who walk around with 25 grand in their wallets! One friend of mine that used to run a company was in Mexico on a company holiday and one of the employees got desperately sick. He whipped out his credit cards and chartered a jet for 150 grand to send her back to Texas for treatment. (actually took two cards) My cards are set with purposely low limits to limit losses in the case of credit card fraud, but not everybody is a cautious as I am.

However, I can say at present there is NO bass that costs in the neighborhood of 25 grand that is of ANY interest to me. I like great basses to play but I could give a crap about exact custom features. All my high end basses were used where someone else picked the wood, the color, the features, and everything else. I still play'em and love them. But an expensive item is worth it only if you can't live without it. For example suppose I suddenly got back into playing upright. Sure that's a different game but the idea is the same. If I'm in love with some upright that cost $25,000 and HAD to own it, well then it would be worth it to me, and I'd go for it. I've done that for a car so it's not exactly unheard of. My house is even at a higher level.

$25 k gets you something want to own and you think is worth that much money.

I said "THAT DOESN'T MEAN THEY HAVE IT IN THEIR WALLETS". That isn't the same as what you are contending I said. This is ridiculous (just like basses that cost 25 grand).

Sixgunn said that millions probably had $25k as pocket change, which I would think most people wouldn't take as having that cash in their actual pocket(s). You said that you highly disagree. It has been established that there are 36 million millionaires. 1 in 36 would be 1 million. Which you disagree with. Technically two out of 36 would equal "millions".

Ridiculous is clearly in the eye of the beholder.

This guy's almost a billionaire, but it isn't from playing bass. It's from owning other people's publishing (MPL Communications). Behold the ridiculous... Sir Paul.
