At that dive bar I used a first Gen PRS bass though two SM-400s into four Gjr 2x10s. That got the ohms right. 220w per side of each SM-400.

So back to the bar. There was a swail in the floor running from back of bar to the front door. By the second set it had filled with pee and by the third the river was passing the stage.

I was in one of Greece's first Black Metal bands back then. Weird times. There was a lot of Golden Dawn influence on that scene - and I mean both Golden Dawns, the political organization and the esoterical. To top it all of, many were into football hooliganism as well and there was almost more fighting than music. Nazi satanic metal hooligans obviously didn't like Nirvana. I'm glad that most good bands/halfway sane people from that era emancipated themselves from stupid kiddy scene bs and that nowadays I can enjoy my Nirvana LPs without being harrassed by any type of pumped up skin head on smack who occupied my appartment.

Lol, yes, we are talking about the same person. His name is Paul and the arrest was in Sarasota, FL, 1991.

I have always been curious about the distinction between a honky tonk and a dive bar, can they be the same thing, or do they have a wide overlap with different fringes?

Some of the the honky tonks I have worked in are now dive bars... go figure.

Simple, Honky Tonks are joints that folks want to go to,
and Dive Bars are joints that folks have to go to,
because there's no Honky Tonks nearby

14, 9th grade. I played flute and piano. Parents had a wedding band so I was constantly being dragged around to their gigs as a kid. Once I was older they'd make me join them for a song here and there.

Oh, that little guy. Well, goes to show everyone how much I knew about Nirvana back then, which was nothing, execpt I knew their sound would have disasterous effects on all the bands I liked and it did. We get older, wiser I guess..sometimes/maybe. I do really like what came out of that, the Foo Fighters and pretty much everything else Dave Grohl does.

Would have just been finishing junior year in college. Dating an absolutely beautiful young woman, though it only lasted to the next fall.

I owned a bass but wasn't playing it - I had fiddled with it a bit in high school and given up, and it was sitting in my bedroom back home. I did have a mandolin I would pick away at in my dorm room or around a campfire.

Not listening to Nirvana, or much of any rock - late 80s power ballad/hair metal schlock and bland electro pop had turned me off to current popular music and I ignored the eruption of grunge. I was listening to a lot of Irish folk music, theater music, and some jazz.

Thirty years ago?

We were just closing in on our first wedding anniversary and I was in my first band playing bass. That would later turn into a huge disappointment after I was unceremoniously replaced and lost alot of $$ and equipment in the deal. That would turn into an over 2 year stretch where I was completely down on music and my bass resided in it's case under the bed without ever seeing the light of day.

And at the end of May 30 years ago we were closing on our first house and getting ready for the big move. That also kept me busy enough working on the house that I had little time to lament the lack of music in my life.

I feel your pain. I left my Jazz Transformer at my friend's house in the mid-80's and he kept it.

Thats funny stuff. Would you believe that my kid brought my laser pointer to kindergarden and the teacher gave it back to me when he left that school at the end of the 5th grade going into middle school. Kindergardners, never cease to amaze.
