I was having a conversation with my guitarist about how the input location on my bass is a serious issue for me. Basically, I HATE jacks on the 'face' of the bass, like on my MIM Jazz. I have always preffered them more on the side of the bass instead, like my ATK.

Am i the only one that takes input jack location seriously on a bass?

I don't mind the input jack being on the front of the bass if I use an angled cable, but I think having a straight cable to a jack on the front of it looks terrible.

Not quite sure why... small change makes a big difference to me.

Honestly I could careless but I prefer side jacks appearance wise.

I think the j/p location is easier - a nice 90degree jack and I'm good to go. my p/j is on the side - Fenders stock jack always comes loose . . . I guess either is ok, it's just a jack

My Monster cable is giving my problems because it's not an angled cable and I put it through the strap, so I'll be going to GC later this week to trade it out for one that doesn't crackle when moving.

Ditto... All of mine are on the side... WHen Scott mande my Birdsong, I wanted no plate in the front and the jack on the side so you can see more of the wood... But I like the way it looks and fits on the side...

Doesn't matter at all. I always use a cable with 90 degree end, no matter where the jack is located.

It honestly doesn`t matter to me that much, however, I do like the faceplate jacks at times because I can then sit in a chair with armrests and play my bass(plugged in, obviously) at the same time.

I want it on the face of the body and I much prefer straight cables to angled cables - straight ones are alot easier to pull out quickly. I always feel like I'm going to bend something when I use angled cables.

I prefer it on the face of the bass mainly because I normally practice while sitting. And my usual practice cable is a straight/straight.

Yes, if I weren't so lazy, I'd just pull out a straight/angled cable; but most of my basses have the output jack on the face. (Most of my basses are Fenders.) And with the jack on the face, I prefer a straight/straight cable. Just personal preference, of course...

On my SR505 the jack is on the front of the bass, but partially in the body and at an angle. It's cool because it's like extra shielding for the cable, but equally uncool because the guy who's equipment I use has a 90 degree angle cable that just doesn't look right with that kind of jack.

It doesn't matter to me but my chord goes through my strap as well. I move around too much and always step on my chord so I have to have that extra security.

the jack placement on my Kubicki is my favorite so far. It is low-profile and effective and really minimizes the cable from being jostled i think.

On the bottom. I changed my 70s classic jazz bass to a bottom-mount jack. I hate face mounts, they just always seem to get in the way.

I prefer side mounted jacks, but I have more front mounted jacks than not.
