So, where do you guys like to stick it?

Not a deal-killer either way but I do prefer the output jack on the front of the bass. I like the traditional P & J layout but I also like it on exotic 5 and 6-string basses.

I like both. Face jacks are better for playing sitting down, but I like the way side jacks look a bit better. I always loop the cable through the strap anyway.

I also prefer face jacks. When sitting to practice side jacks just get in the way and it throws me all off. As far as wether it LOOKS better in front or on the side, I couldnt care less, too small of a useless detail for me to give another thought. Its not something I consider when buying a bass.

I prefer the side mounted jack. I MUST HAVE an angled plug in either case. I have benever had a problem sitting with a side jack and angled cord.

I really hate the way Ibanez has angled front jacks...why do they think that's a good place?

I prefer The jack on the side of the bass. But I do not mind if the Jazk is on the face of the bass.

really don't mind. The only reason i mite want one in the front is because im too lazy to look to the side to see where the jack is and it takes me five seconds finding where it is.

I prefer edge mounted -- eaier to run it through the strap to keep it out of the way. but back in the days when they still made cords, I had no problem with front mounted. Maybe someone still makes these, but the high grade cables, even with angled jacks, don't have flat plugs.

I prefer it on the front where I can see it. All four of my current main basses have it on the side, though. My #1 bass (Ristola 6er) has a cup around the input jack like one of those old Teles—it's kind of annoying because I cannot use angled cables, but it's not that big of a deal. There are much more important things to me when I'm bass-shopping, like tone, neck dive, neck profile, overall weight, scale length, string spacing, etc, aside from basics like number of strings, p'up configuration and so on. I'd say input jack placement is about 30th on my list of priorities.

I'm a bit torn ... I prefer the ease of the jack on the front, and the ability to keep it plugged in while on a stand; however I like the look of a side mount, especially on exotic wooded basses.

Either way isn't going to make me not purchase the bass ... just as long as it's not mounted on the back!
(I never understood the appeal of back-mounted jacks )
