So where is the Blue Devault setting?

Lower left-hand corner of your screen. Mouseover where it says "TalkBass 2014" and you will see "Style Chooser." Click that link, and you will get an option to choose the "TalkBass Retro" theme. It's not completely blue, but a number of people (including me) prefer it.

I like this better:

Done with the NoSquint add-on in Firefox. You can pick any background and text colors you want, takes less than a minute once you're up to speed. If you want to go deeper there are a few different style editor add-ons as well.

I agree- WAY too much white, (this looks alot cleaner- 'cause it's all white) and font size is too small with too much white in between.
This is a Text- based site: it should be foremost. On main menu page, the Member field on the right has far better font style.
A tinted background would help, especially for after-dark reading: some people work all/most of the day (tho some are here at work).
White is way too glaring for large screen and low light viewing. The old style darker blue needs to be brought back. I hope this is not another "upgrade" that is mostly geared for mobile phone users. Jim

Edit: Found the Retro- still too much space, maybe a bit of gray tint added to the blue would help, but I think it's the font change that makes more strain to read.
