I saw John Petrucci, he was like watching a 80's metal guitarist shred the entire time...except this time he had shorter hair!
Why don't you take the $45 and just get drunk instead......I know that's what I NEEDED after I saw Satriani for 2+ hours many years back.
It was probably a pretty cool show. But it's (obviously) not for everyone.
There was probably a fairly competent bass player holdin' it all together too...as there usually is. But because it's "guitar oriented" tunes, there's probably nuthin' good to come of it...at least according to some folks.
I have seen Satriani in many different venues over the years, and he usually has a great supporting cast. Can't really say there are many others that can provide such a variety of music (from so many recordings over the many years) and absolutely incredible playing.
Go get drunk instead.
While not the usual bands, i don't see why people are making such a stink about this. Satriani for years had Stu Hamm on bass and Vai and Gilbert played with Sheehan...they are both on B3 and people on here rushed to see that show.
