Software Recommendations for Making a Trailer Video

On the Mac; Final Cut Pro would provide everything for a decent trailer. For a cheaper solution, iMovie works too.

I should have mentioned I’m using Windows 10....would that work for Windows?
I use Magix on the Windows platform.
Bit of a learning curve (as with most nontrivial applications) but it has the power.
The new version is supposed to have addressed some of the more tedious elements of synchronizing multiple cameras with a separate audio track - haven't tried it out yet...

I've used open shot and Hitfilm. What I figured out right away is that my friend who specializes in video production was happy to do what would have taken me years to do incorrectly. It would be like me expecting him to produce pro level audio. I suggest finding an enthusiast or someone who specializes for anything but the most basic editing functions.
If I can find someone who would do it for cheap and I could basically “sit next to him” while editing, I might go that route
But I think I could figure this out....just need to see what I’m up against
I purchased VideoPad recently and have had success with it pretty quick. You do need to watch a couple short YouTube Videos to get the hang of it, but it was pretty easy after I invested about 10-15 minutes in watching their tutorials. I think you can download it for free for a while to test it out.

I did some editing, and I thought I had good results. My video expert friend starting explaining why my setups were not correct. Dropped frames, and a bunch of other stuff I can't even relay because I just nodded my head while he was talking. "mmhm,... yeah, ok." Then when I thought he finished explaining, I said: "ooooohhh... ok. So can you help me then?"

I use Adobe Premier Elements on Windows. costs about $70 (come with Photo also), but pretty powerful.
The best on Mac, Windows or linux: Invalid Link Removed ... and it's FREE for single users ( the collaborative network version will set you back a few francs!)

Another vote for Shotcut. Its free, works on Mac/Windows/linux, and its not stripped of basic features like a lot of other free editors.

Lightworks. It’s full featured pro video editing software, available for free, forever, if you only export to 720p format, which is plenty good for YouTube/computer screens. If you need to publish to higher resolution formats, you do have to pay, a full outright license is $475, they have shorter term licenses as well. It’s the closest thing to Reaper pricing structure in video editing, and again, it’s completely free, not just a free trial, if you’re just using it for YouTube videos.
It’s not simple to use if you’re a noob, it’s pro software, but there are a lot of free tutorials. It’s not hard to work with once you understand the basics, I learned everything I need to know from YouTube in less than an hour.
