Solid Gold FX Beta drive? Anyone playing one?

Thanx Sunfire, I hope you find it to be a keeper. I'm looking for a warm light OD. I want to put a little grit on my tone. I also want to buy an OFD. Ready to click the buy button on that real soon but not fully convinced that it would be right for me. I've got the SB2 Manta for my old school synth sounds with the OC-2. Love that pedal. Also wondering if the Phat Phuk B would be good for a light OD. It seems to me it can grind but may be to much of a drive for me. Can the PPB do light warm OD?

I didn't find the PPB to be a 'warm, light' overdrive. It's more of a gritty distortion. I would consider an SFT, Pork Loin, or Blueberry to be a warm, light overdrive. Also keep hearing the Earthquaker Monarch is outstanding at that but I have not used that one.

I'm also intrigued by the Beta, especially since Prymaxe has them for 20% off today :)

cnltb.. im sorry, reading my posts...wasnt up set with you. I was upset with makers of it. Sorry man.

At no point did I get the impression of you being upset with me( or anyone else for that matter). A little grumpy at best ;)- so; no worries at all! -the lack of 'clean' sounds to compare the pedal engaged ones with in standard tuning is indeed something that makes that specific clip near enough useless I think.
Still sounded good though I recon.:
There's some clean in this demo...

Was that a discount coupon? I didn't see a sale on their site.

its on my checkitout list.
I am still really having a lot of fun with the unpleasant surprise...never thought I'd be interested in a fuzz before trying that one. :)

I am not a huge fan of crazy fuzz, but the Doom is s damn rich and dynamic. It plays so well with everything from od > filters. Super touch sensitive as well. LOVE IT!

and back on track the beta demos are all very promising and it is orange my favorite color

That's the impression I get from the clips.
I too don't really need crazy fuzz and really didn't think I'd have use for any at all-The unpleasant surprise is, surprisingly, getting a lot of use.
If I had the money I might very well have that pedal or get it soon ( although there is still a lot in the unpleasant surprise I haven't heard yet, I am sure, and I am not sure that it doesn't cover a lot of the ground done by the Doom, depending on settings) :)
I too am still very much tempted to get the beta with true bypass being a plus but not a deal breaker in case it wasn't.

I took a chance and ordered the Solid Gold FX Beta online last night.

I do not currently run any dirt pedals and I run my Tech21 VT Bass DI clean. The band has been working on "Monster Truck - Sweet Mountain River" and I think the bass needs some hair. My choices where: Fairfield Barbershop, Wampler Euphoria and the Beta. So I will see how it sounds by the end of next week.

Might even take a picture of the guts and send them to JohnK.
