solid state or tube

I prefer SS. Tubes sound nice in the music store, practice room and the living room. But once they're pushed, all that glassy goodness turns to distortion. I want the bass to be as clean as possible when it's loud.

LOL! I love that about tube amps ... You don't need no stinking pedals! If you want clean head room out of an all tube head get a MESA/Boogie 400+, and add cabinets down to a 2 Ohm load. IMHO, you are doing something wrong if you can't get enough clean volume out of a 300 or higher watt all tube amp. I use a less than 300 watt head and tubes that distort early because I don't want to blow up the neighbourhood before I can hear grind. If I want to add volume for playing out I plug in the 2X15 beside the 8X10. Cheers.
