Watch the beginning of the video - the first part, no FX there. The note G on the D string is a bit flat, to my ears anyway. Of course I could be wrong.

dumb technique question. When he start doing pops around 6:30, is he using both his index and middle fingers on the right hand? Index on the D string and middle on the G? Just want to confirm what I *think* I'm seeing.

Me too--me and my buddy Doug (of the Lakland Owners Group) set this up with the help of Ed and the good folks at the Bass Emporium. I was the one sitting/standing by the camera.

Ed put on a clinic for a good 90 minutes-2 hours. As expected, his playing was great and he was a very cool cat.

Thanks for the comments. The clinic was a while ago, but I remember feeling pretty good about the event, so I'm glad some of it is getting online.

I used to do a lot of Invalid Link Removed about 6 years ago. I had a fairly elaborate signal chain, but it allowed me to play live with a drum machine and create full sounding arrangements. I've always used the Boss RC loopers... nothing fancy by today's standard, but they had reasonably good sound quality compared to others. But it was always a single loop track. I never got into layering multiple loops. Guys like Steve Lawson have made the looping thing an artform... I just pile on a bunch of stuff until I've got something interesting to solo over.

I rarely do it anymore, but for a clinic... it's about all the wow factor I can muster by myself. I am not really a solo bassist and while I admire guys that can do that, I guess I need some kind of energetic exchange to make something happen.

Anyway... thanks for posting this, and thanks for the nice comments. And it's quite possible a string was flat... hey, who the hell can hear that low? <kidding, I'm kidding!>
