some idiot kid playing with synth effect

Nicknolnuchan is destined to be net famous.
He could have synchronized dancing on treadmills or cried under his covers about the britney-bashing press, but no. He has found his niche...and it's only a matter of time until he has a reality tv show.

Sidenote: I love youtube and the boundless joy it provides. HA!

Meh...he's a kid. He's likely struggling to stand out in what he sees as a conformist culture. Kids do that. Kids like to be different. Well, some kids do. I did. I wanted to rebel against everything. I didn't wear clown shoes and put my hair in pigtails but I did have hair to my waist and I did wear torn jeans and a leather jacket with a denim vest covered in patches. I was seriously metal in a school full of cookie cuter sweaters and haircuts and air jordans. Was I better or worse? No..I was just a kid who wanted to express what I was feeling on the inside. Also, I was a bass player even way back then and if memory serves, I probably wasn't much better than this young man.
So he wears funny shoes and plays with synth effects...so he wears dyed hair in pig tails and makes you tube videos. He's a kid trying to be unique. Would you all prefer that he gets himself a "respectable" haircut and wears "normal" shoes and plays on your level; even tghough most of you probably have decades more experience?
Think back to when you were kids...weren't you stupid looking? I bet you were. I know I was. I can't remember how many times my parents shook thier heads at the outfits I produced before leaving for school.
A misguided view of what is normal is what will crush the spirit. This kid is expressing himself. So he isn't a very good bas player...so what. I'm guessing that he probably just got his first bass and probably hasn't taken any lesson because most people don't. He is emulating those he looks up to...musicians, rock stars, guys with big shoes...whatever. Would it be better for you if he were wearing a football jersey and rushing around the living room spiking a football? Would that make him acceptable to those of you who are trashing him?
You never know...this kid could grow up to be great at something...anything. Maybe not bass playing...he might grow up to be the guy who cures cancer. Are you really going to be that harsh to a freaking kid!?!
Think about all the videos that get leaked out of kids his age drinking, doing drugs, being involved in gang activity (remember all those "beat in" videos)...and you wanna crucify this kid because he made a video where he is playing music?!?
So he is dressed silly...so what? WHo made you people the judge of what is normal and acceptable.
And to the OP...what makes this kid an idiot? The fact that he has the balls to make a video of himself doing what he loves and offering it up to the world for all this critique and harsh judgment? What do you do that is so superior, OP? What makes you so special?
I think this kid is awesome...I would hate to think that he has people in his life who criticize him the way some of you are. Might be the thing that guarantees he gives up on his dreams and gets a "normal" job some day...
Shame on you. :spit:

A+

In high school I looked like a tool. I played in a hardcore punk band. And it was all that got me through the frustration and angst of being a maladjusted kid in suburbia.

when i got my 1st bass i used to play with 1 finger on my plucking hand and 2 on my fretting hand i couldnt play in time at all and every other note i hit buzzed like a wasp with a probe up its backside but i thought i was awesome

now i play up to 3 fingers on my right hand and use ALL my fingers on my fretting hand and i can stay in time with even the most obscene time signatures and rythms as well as throwing in licks and fills galore

point is none of us picked up the bass and mastered it in a day we were all terrible once we all sucked some of us got lessons some of us taught ourselves and some just packed it in
stop being so hard on the kid just coz he's young and inexperienced least he's got the confidence and the guts to put himself out there if he keeps on learning he'll not only be good on bass but he'll have great stage presence too:bassist:
