So are you saying just the fat channel stuff does a good job of eq'ing? I would love to go to iem's but that's another huge cost that just isn't gonna happen right now.

I'm saying feedback isn't an issue with IEMs so I don't need any EQ on the monitors at all.

you can pick up the x32 Producer for $1297 from Spectrum Audio...just make an account to get the pricing.

I had gotten a Presonus 1642 used from MF when i started my digital mixer search. I really liked it until it started just randomly freezing up. Then I went to the x32 Compact and it made the Presonus seem like a toy.

I'm talking about the full size x32 desk and flight case- everyone else is quoting 2700 just for the desk, an additional 4-500 for the case. 2650 for both is a killer deal.
No need to sign up for an account either.
And I agree the presonus are unreliable, at least ime.

MAP on the X32 Producer is $1499; rack mountable, only 8 sliders, 16 pre's, four layers instead of the full sized X32's two.
A&H is a bargain for what it is IMO, but still pricey by comparison.
I would anticipate a "revamping" by Presonus in the next couple of years to stay in the game. As I said earlier, it's not like the Presonus is a bad unit, I think they just got caught "resting on their laurels" a little bit. ;)

IMO the Midas pre's in the Behringer are far superior to the Presonus. Behringer is making a serious push to evolve from disposable bargain brand to serious SR gear. They are getting attention in the pro world.

Not unlike Honda in the 70's and 80's and Hyundai in the 90's and 00's to use an automotive analogy, similar marketing strategy.

Last night, I continued some research and came across a new Berhinger x18 mixer. Appearently, tjey make better mixers than they do bass amps, thank god. From what I understood, you can set it up just off stage(or on) and use the base as a kind of wireless snake unit and take the ipad panel out front to mix. It has the sound quality of the Midas preamps, 16 mic inputs and I think eight buses. For $799, I could buy 2 and keep one as a backup. I watched a sound comparison on youtube between Berhinger x32, Roland M200i, The Presonus 24.4.02 and the Soundcraft mixer. I cant copy amd paste the vid from my note 3 but search youtube. The sound guy preferred the sound quality of the Roland , but its 3 grand as the others are. If the sound quality on this smaller Behringer is equal to the x32 then it seems tough to beat. Is this too good to be true ?

FWIW. I run the PA for my band. Now mind you what we have collected over the last couple years I could almost play MSG and be heard. But aside from that our current configuration works very well.

I have a peavey 8120 board. Full kit mic'd into a rack mixer then two control channels on the board. Guitarist are both mic'd. Bass is DI from the amp. 4 vocal mics. 2 vocals through a processor other 2 clean.
From the board to a dual band eq then to the speakers.

We play outdoor parties in the summer. For those we have 4 mains, a 2x15 sub and an 18. I always run 3 sometimes 4 monitors on stage depending on stage size / placement, acoustics, etc. Indoor bar venues I use the 18 and 2 mains. Plenty of power.

I record straight off the board as well without the eq. I just eq the mix in mastering.

We use 4 monitors and the 2x15 in rehearsal at accepted levels for us. Not that we really need that much sound, but the drummer is a little ocd about hearing me bass and vocal wise as loud as he can lol.

What a jip. There are places taking orders already and that got me a little excited. After reading a ton of reviews on the Line 6 setup, I took the Yamaha back and traded it for a Line 6 setup with two subs and two tops plus the mixer. I shelled out extra to get the mixer but the system sounded great and considering we're DIY, I like the the layout of the screen.
