My band is recording currently, with a Guitar Port from Line 6 (I know, it blows, we have no money)... I want to run my bass through my head, and then into the guitar port, rather than running direct. I ran direct this last weekend, and the modeling software that came with the unit was pretty much made for guitar, so it sounded like s***. I tried running through my head's D.I. with a mic cable (one with the female standard mic jack on one end, and a standard 1/4 jack on the other end) but it didnt seem to sound any different. I have a great tone dialed in for the music, but it isnt there in the recording, it sounds the same as running directly into the port. My guess, is that my settings didnt carry over or something, because the tone is completely flat and lifeless in the recording. My tone through my amp/cab is a slightly gritty tube like sound.
I am using a GK bl600 if that will help...

Is there any special button on my head I need to press? Or will it just not work? Im pretty new to the head, and have no experience whatsoever recording, so I need a little guidance.
Thanks!
EDIT: This will sound really dumb, but...
The bass plugs into the normal input jack, and the cable runs from the DI to the recording device correct? Just making sure
