Some spector question.

Recently tried out a spector 4dlx fm euro bolt-on and was impressed with its sound. My only concern is the fact that while it sounds good alone, im not sure if it'll cut through a rock mix. I dont like my bass to sound nasal, but i want it to have enough mids to cut through. The tonepump preamp can only boost lows or highs, but im guessing that with the bridge humbucker i can get enough growl.

Also, it has really high output and im wondering if it would overload my pedals.

How does it compare with the stingray? I know they're different basses but both comes with bridge humbucker with active circuits i suppose i can get close to a ray sound?

Not quite, Arif is playing a [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. The 4DLX you had your hands on has the passive pickups and the bolt-on neck, compared to Arif's neck through and active EMG's.

his bass is a silhouette in there, i dont know how you can tell that! Seen him live a few times, he's always playing an NT euro, green or baby blue.

I had that same bass and it was fine soundwise. the main issue for me was that it had the worst neck-dive of ANY bass I ever owned and the distance between the strings and the body. MASSIVE gap.

Is the 4DLX just the Rebop series? If so, the pickups are naturally scooped so you'll have to favor the bridge pickup and cut the bass and treble to get the mids to shine. That preamp is quite hot.

If you liked it and don't mind shelling out the cash, I'd suggest adding a set of EMG TW's and a the preamp of your choice (can't go wrong with an Aguilar OBP-3)

when buying a bass always have a return policy that allows you to play it with the band and take it back if you don't like it. It is the only way to tell. The same bass will sound different with different bands.
