Actually though of EBMM products I prefer the bongo but that's just me. Always felt like there was something missing from the stingray.

Any EBMM bass you go with, you can't loose. I played a Stingray for 15 years and loved it. I also love the Sterlings and the Bongos. I'm more into the single-pickup models, for slap, and the bridge pickup is the sound of EBMM IMO. But even if you go for a different pup design, I'd definately pick up a Music Man before any of the other basses that have been mentioned.

If you like the look and sound of a Stingray but the neck is a bit bulky, try the Sterling.
This was my exact situation. I had been set on getting a Stingray for years but when I actually tried one out, the neck was just not comfortable to me. I was disapointed to say the least.

The Sterling fit PERFECTLY. The neck is super comfortable. Sterlings kick some serious ass too.
