New rig, so it's time to gush.
I've had quite a few Walkabouts over the last 20 years.
I consider it a classic and a tone machine, but went on the light weight/ high power quest and tried a WD800 and a few other amps which are amazing in their own right, but didn't quite do it for me. So I decided to grab another.
In looking at cabs, there is a bit of a wave of new, lighter designs that have a power handling and efficiency bump, so I decided to try the Darkglass DG212N- 4 ohms with a high sensitivity, plenty more power handling than necessary, and reasonable weight for a dual driver (with horn) single cab that should be great for a low B.
This turned out to be quite a potent combination! Cab response rated down to 32 hz, and it has a ridiculous low end capability. It's like having an additional sub, reminds me of the feel you would get out of a bi amp rig (crossover). Really rich but also articulate. Definitely one of the most forgiving amps for extreme effects, far beyond all the class D offerings I've tried.
Honestly this seems a bit overkill, if there is such a thing. The lows can hit like a sledge hammer, and it gets stupid loud.
The pairing is quite formidable.
And damn, it looks good.
Can't wait to get a few shows on it and see how it does.

Nice. I have a DG210N coming any day now.

That aesthetics of the Walkabout fit perfectly with the Darkglass.
That color scheme Walkabout def has the look. A 2x10 should be quite amazing for you. Definitely more portable. If I wasn't after the option of the extended low end, I would have picked up a 2x10 for sure. Too bad I didn't have the opportunity to try them both. I thought the DG would basically be the same as a Bergantino 2x12 with more power handling/ lower port tuning, but it is most certainly not, definitely its' own thing. It's also a slightly larger enclosure.
Been playing both 5 string fretless B-G standard with Drop A sometimes, and 4 string piccolo bass tuned well into guitar range and it reacts equally well with both instruments, thankfully.

I used to run a WA into a DG210. It sounded pretty good.
I think they key with the WA is rolling tubes to find the right ones, and of course fan replacement to get the noise floor down. The varying eras of the design all sound quite different to me, I had one of Chef's all black chassis versions he sold me, but greatly preferred the sound of the burgundy stencil era I had at the same time. This black stencil has the same vibe as the Burgundy one. Real tight response.
