Somoeone broke into my car!!!

So this morning when i was in my car ready to go. I noticed that my car had been broken into. I noticed they took my stereo,GPS,ripped open my AC Unit,pretty much destroyed that entire section..

Police came and checked it out,took fingerprints and checked my door lock. Found out my alarm doesnt even work and i had been leaving my gear,information and everything in there.

I payed a good 250$ for this stereo too . Though good news is that they didnt take my amp,my effects pedals,bass, and all the gear i have in the back and in the trunk. Also didnt take my ipod which was connected to the stereo.

Now i dont know which forum to post this in, but i just thought i'd like to share this with you guys. I dont intend on getting the stereo back but it would be nice to have it back in my car. I am just glad they didnt take the things i needed.

Though for now on, all my stuff is going inside my house.

For as "common sense" as it is to take that stuff into the house with you- even just over night, or you got home really late or whatever... Bring it in.

For as common as you hear or read of a band's equipment or trailer or gear get stolen because it's left outside...

i had a ipod stolen because my friend forgot to lock his door in a parking lot. when i bought it it cost me $400. lame.

haha yeah, i agree. after this, im no longer leaving my bass gear inside there. It opened my eyes because i always thought it happends to other people but it wouldnt happen to me, till it actually happened to me. I guess its a lesson i had to learn

Unfortunately, that's the only way to be safe. Even though I park in a neighborhood that has zero theft problems and no recorded car break-ins, I don't leave things of value in the car overnight. Sorry to hear that happened - and I hope you were well insured.

i even had a security system installed on my house as i was getting insanely paranoid about someone brekaing in and taking my equipment when i'm not here. especially since there has been a rise in home burglaries around here over the past several months.

My neighborhood is really safe, but I still lock everthing up and have alarms. When I lived in the Bronx, we had to leave our car doors unlocked, otherwise the windows would be broken every night. Even though I had a hole in the dashboard where the removable stereo went, they would break in anyway to see if it was under the seat. :scowl: The cops would give you a case # over the phone for your insurance and that was it.

You didn't have your garage door opener in it did you? Better check. Also get a locking gas cap. we are in for some hard times. The most valuable item out side your car is the catalytic converter. It's got palladium in it. Put up a security light

dont have a garage door opener and the doors for garage is always closed and locked and blocked from the inside so you really cant get inside.. though i think ill invest in that locking gas cap.

The problem is thieves are like seasons they come around again and again. If they know where you live and what you've got they'll be back next month or the one after. Unfortunately they're not the smartest of all two legged creatures.

Nice thing about that is it's kind of like deer hunting...find a nice spot where you know they will travel to eventually...

Good luck to you. I had to learn this lesson the hard way as well. Was too lazy to bring in my pedal board one night, and it wasn't there the next day. I was fortunate, the idiots tried to turn the stuff in at guitar center and ended up getting caught when I saw the stuff there.

Keep your eyes open, check with the local pawn shops.

My backpack was stolen out of my mothers car. the dude freaked out when he heard us walking outside to get in the car.

He left a flashlight in the car, one... we knew as soon as we saw it what had happened. He was smart... He wore a glove, not a single print on the flashlight....

But he wasn't that smart, because he put the batteries in too.
