Alright, I have to tell a funny (to me) story. I was in college when this song came out. A guy in my dorm with a big stereo loved this song, and played it to death. Over and over, with his room door open and the sound blasting. Next door to him lived a friend of mine who was a Religion major, studying for his first big Comparative Religion final, a course that I was auditing pass/fail for a core requirement. He was going crazy, trying to study with this song blasting through the dorm.

Fast forward to the final. He is in the front row, sweating bullets. I am just behind him, very relaxed (science majors don't sweat multiple choice tests much). I lean forward and start singing the refrain - "Jesus is just alright with me, Oh Yea"in a soft voice. I thought he was going to kill me.

Maybe you had to be there.

Did you ever hear the original version of Jesus Is Just Alright by the The Art Reynolds Singers or the second version by The Byrds? I was always partial to The Doobie Brothers version myself.

It's amazing that you can remember some songs years - decades, even - since last playing them. I was playing my acoustic the other day and broke out "Arthur's Theme" by Christopher Cross, which I hadn't played in nearly 30 years (lost the song book from which I learned it). I was kind of floored, because there are some interesting chord changes in that one.
