Songs that suprised you with difficulty

I was in a project once that played Needle And The Spoon. Just pedaled my way through the whole durned thing. Me & the drummer locked it in and it sounded good.
Yeah Leon Wilkeson was a MONSTER if you ask me. Where most
of his band was overrated (not Steve Gains) Leon was way way
underrated IMO.
As far as songs that surprised me with difficulty, Im gonna go with
the Beatles "Rain". If I play it in sections it seems simple but I can't
ever get threw it without totally messing up.

rio actually totally amazed me when I heard it.I dont like 80s pop but I listened to the intro to rio and figured it was a rush song I'd never heard,and when the song actually started I was like woah damn. thats 80s and awesome.
I had to do a James Taylor tribute(ish) gig a year ago and found that Leland Sklar has some pretty difficult lines. Here is a snippet of what he has going on during "Carolina in my mind".

My wife gets Freebird about 90% right, and it's so awesome. That song has hooks right out the gate.
My surprising song was "Saturday Night's All Right for Fighting," by Elton John.
It was a lot harder than it sounded.
I love when I think I learned a song, play it for quite some time, and then put the headphones on, or the car stereo with the bass way up, and discover I'm missing all kinds of stuff.
Then I get to learn it all over again, only RIGHT.
Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash..I have never heard a band (except Johnny's) play this song correctly, including any band I've been in that has attempted it.
The guitar solo part of Led Zeppelin's Dazed and Confused. Really simple pentatonic thing repeated over and over. How hard can it be? My left hand is dying of cramps a few bars into it. I tried playing it on the open strings, trying to relax as much as possible, etc., and it can be done but it certainly is harder than it looks. It's JPJ reminding all bassplayers who's boss:
Mcfadden and Whitehead- Ain't no Stoppin' Us Now (surprisingly hard to keep the tempo and the groove)
That is a badass bassline. Good job on playing it. I don't think I'll ever like the song though, sorry.
The chorus of "Blister In The Sun" by The Violent Femmes. Especially the scale right at the end before diving back into the verse. The rest of the song is so simple that it took me maybe 5 minutes to figure out, but I still don't have that part 100% nailed.

Years ago I played in a show band that did John Denver's "Thank God I'm A Country Boy" and I just could not for the life of me nail that part! And I had the freakin' music right there on a stand in front of me!!! Easily the most embarassing fail of my professional career.
This might sound strange but for me I was surprised by whiskey bent and hell bound.
I've heard a million guys play this by themselves on their six strings and never thought anything about it. But the bass,well the whole band actually did this strange turn around or something (will have to listen to it again) and it took me longer than I thought to get it just right.
When I went back to practice I was the only one aware of this (or the only one to bother practicing along with the original song) and all the other guys where perplexed by this strange little change up..............So I had to give a lesson on it.
