Excellent call. Actually found myself humming that tune the other day, which is pretty amazing, considering the song is 35+ years old already. Then I had a good laugh recalling the video for Phil Collins' "Sussudio" featuring the esteemed Lee Sklar, because I'm fairly certain there's no actual electric bass guitar on the song.
Robert DeLeo is the master of good bass lines!
Not a huge STP fan but I think DeLeo is truly one of the greatest rock bassist of all time. Part John Paul Jones, part James Jamerson and a whole lot of awesome.
Here's one that I've heard a million times but only recently realized how cool the bassline and bass tone were.
