Double Bass Sonores Red Label

I recently changed my old Red Label strings to a smaller instrument and the G string broke immediately. Now I'm also worried about the other strings, because it seems that the strings are not made for the shorter string length.
string length. I have had them on the other instrument for years without any problems. Has anyone else noticed this problem? Is there anyone who has an old set (or individual strings) that I can buy?
That would be fantastic as they don't seem to be produced anymore.

You might wanna try emailing Gerold and seeing if he has something in the sonores brand that’s comparable to the red labels.

If I had to guess he might suggest the newer Tempera brand strings. They seem similar in concept, metal string that handles more like a wrapped gut.

agree 100%

the tempera string is truly revolutionary, i think. yes they're more expensive than spirocores or whatever, but half the price of sonores.

i'm using the hybrids and have a hard time imagining not liking this string - for any player, on any bass. but that's just me.

i've had my set - that i got used - on and off the bass twice, and played daily for a while now - must be over a year? i don't know. but they still sound fresh and new, and i suspect the life will be very long, which is a feature of how gerold designs his strings.

i'd try that first since they're easier to order, and cheaper. they're a seriously good string.
