Hi,

I just wanted to share this article (PDF) with you.

This is the only nightclub that my band plays. We're there one weekend a month. The owner wanted to do it right and spent the money, over $1million for lights and sound. We showcase the band there to clients for private, corporate, and other events.

Plus they feed us and give us a couple of drink tickets. On a particularly good night the owner will even come to the green room and tip the band $100 each. Whoever heard of such a thing? It's a good gig. We're there this weekend. Stop on by.

A view of the stage from the "bridge", as the sound guy likes to call it. Sorry I didn't get more of the soundboard. I'll see if I have another picture.

Not sound related, but this is our drummer about to tear into his prime rib sandwich. Yes, they feed us. Pretty cool.

It's just about the best club gig you can get, IMHO. Great sound, great lights, great food, even a great owner. ;)

Hi,

Since we're playing there this weekend I snapped a couple of pictures of the "command center" (FOH). ;)

This rig controls 55,000 watts of sound equipment. I kid you not.

Under the stage you see the grills covering the subwoofer array. The sound guy told me those run at about 10% of capacity.

The board on the right side is used to run the lights, which are fantastic.

Yes, the sound guy (Mark Bjork) is excellent, also a musician (drums, guitar) and really gets a good sound on stage and in the house.

Is that "P-town" as in where "Pappy and Harriet's" is located? I've played there a bunch. It's really a fun place. I used to play there before Harriet sold it.

No - "P-Town" as in Pomona. I have friends that have played Pappy and Harriets. They love it. I haven't been there, myself. It helps so much when whoever is running sound, either at monitors or house, is a musician themselves. I'll have to check this place out!

Yes, it quite literally is awesome. The club/restaurant is located on the ground floor of the Extron corporate HQ building. The owner of The Ranch is also the owner/CEO of Extron Corporation. On the sixth floor is another high-end event venue for private parties. This guy spends the money and does it more than right. He's a really nice guy too, not your typical club owner. There are a few good ones around. ;p

55,000 watts? Cool!

Not that I'm "whipping it out", or anything, but... (Okay I'm totally whipping it out) at my current place of employment I'm usind a PM5D to manage 95,000 watts.

That's just the monitor system! 7 Yamaha "4x4" amps at 10,000 watts apiece, in addition to 5 Yahama TXN6 amps for 4 way sidefill and drum sub. The 4x4s are driving Nexo 45n12 wedges.

I pee my pants every time I fire it up!
