Sound cutting out

I recently got a new bass (Ibanez SR300e) after being out of the hobby for a while. The sound has been cutting out more and more, where it's at the point where I have to have the cable a certain way for any sound to come out. I've ruled out the cable itself, so I'm assuming it's the jack, even though it's brand new. I'd return it, but of course this developed after I threw out the packaging. I'll link a video so you can get a better understanding of what I mean.

Have you checked the battery? That would be where I would start.

It seems like the cable moves quite a bit when you release it, though it's a bit tough to tell. From what I can see, the jack needs to be fixed.

Are you using a right angle connector in the recessed jack? Can you try a straight connector?

I've tried a different battery and used a straight connector. Neither made a difference

Its a bad solder joint. Ibanez is notorious for them.

How do you identify a bad solder joint? Everything seems like it's together. I'm not an electronics expert though haha

Probably a bad barrel jack... when you change, ensure its wired correctly... i.e. negative of battery is wired to the correct lug on the jack, otherwise it'll drain the battery.

My then new SR805 came this way (from factory, via Sweetwater)... with a bad barrel jack, AND miswired!

And yes, I received a really good discount for both my troubleshooting and repair efforts... I really like this bass, too!

How do I know if it's wired correctly?

Also, is this little bit of yellow wire that's soldered you the jack necessary?

Looks like some ones cut the yellow wire no floating around in the compartment ? You said new no ones played with it

I can't find any other wire. It's actually soldered to the white solder joint. I'm just gonna replace the jack, the one tab can be pulled out a little bit
