Sound hole pickup or installed pickup

I appreciate the suggestion, but I'm looking for a pickup system, not an actual microphone. I use a condenser mic as well as a cheap computer mic mounted on the soundboard, so I'm covered as far as mics go. I'm looking for more of a direct line.

it is a basically a pickup all you do is widen the strap button and it turns into a jack, it s very nice ance al lyou do is plug the bass in like any electric guitar

I think that the amplification for acoustics is some form of a microphone(piezos??) unlike a magnet in electric instruments. If what you mean by a more direct line you are describing a magnet pickup like a jazz or p pickup i dont know how u would go about mounting such a thing. Even after mounting it you would have to deal with pots and input jacks.

could you just like gut a p bass and bolt it right on? i dunnno :hiding:

I'm talking about a simple bass magnetic pickup. They work in acoustics as well as electrics (they simply pick up string vibrations). Mounting it isn't a problem, and dealing with "pots and input jacks" isn't a problem either.

That being said, any suggestion on a good pickup system? I'm looking at the $20-$30 price range.

the one i gave you was 50 some and thts the cheapest i found, that are any good, and trust me tht mic one sounds really good

That saddle mic looks pretty cool, but I'm just looking for a normal bass pickup... like the ones found in a normal electric bass.

Sure, I could just buy one online, but I'd like to get some advice from people who have used specific pickups in their own builds.

Do any of you luthiers have a specific pickup that you always rely on?

I'm somewhat confused. Can you point us to a photo or a video of an acoustic bass with one of these magnetic pickups? Do you mean something like a magnetic soundhole pickup?

I just had a [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]pickup installed in my bass & it sounds killer, but it doesn't seem like what you're asking for.
