sound mans ultimate compliment?

So I had a gig this weekend (medium sized bar) with a sound guy we have been using for about six months or more so he knows what we are all about and what we want our sound to be like, but he actually came up to me and said "man your bass sounds great just turn up your amp and I'm gonna take you out of the mains."

I asked every one on stage about my volume and there were all cool about how loud I was on stage, but I did have one old guy complain that I was too loud. (like the bass can ever be too loud)

Just wondering if any one has ever had this happen before.

oh and I was using my Carvin bx1500 with a Hartke AK410 and AK115 with a Warwick Thumb BO. yes I know about mixing drivers, but I run both cabs in different channels and I agree some times it works and other times it doesn't but I don't have the cash for another 410 and haven't been able to sell the 15 yet.

Once at a benifit in Nashville. The guitarist was using a /13 for his on-stage monitor and it sounded so good in the room I never put him in the house. It was being recorded for broadcast later so that team had a seperate mix. But honestly I couldn't have improved his overall sound. I didn't tell him until after the gig and he didn't seem surprised. Many of the Nashville guys get the sound perfect on-stage so if it's not too large of a venue I really don't have to do much.

Hey, if it works, it works. I'd be curious though what the tone was like all over the venue and not just at the mix position though. Half the reason for PA is to disperse the sound fully throughout the audience, not just to make it louder than the amp is.
