Sound Round, Play Flat

Hey Guys,
I'm looking for a set of strings that hits a specific criteria, and I was wondering if any of you had stumbled across some like this:
I want a string that sounds like a GHS Brite Flat, with a lot of top end, and really thick lows, but, feels and plays like a chrome flat. I want that steel round wound, piano clank, but I want something silkier under my fingers. If you have any suggestions, I'd appreciate them.

Rotosound solo bass. Or even rotosound flats give lots of clank and have a thick bottom end.

Half rounds won't be smooth enough, at least not any smoother than Brite Flats.

I honestly think that Brite Flats are as close as you're going to get. They're smooth, at little sticky at first, but have more edge to them than most flats. But it sounds like you already knew that.

Then I'd try the new White Tape Wounds from Labella.
They're round wound strings witha clear tape covering. Have the sound of old-ish worn in rounds with a very smooth feel.
I like the regular Labella black nylon tapes but these white ones area li'l brighter sounding. And smoother feeling

Oh that's what the white tapes are? I always thought they were white nylon instead of black nylon. Do they feel any different than the black nylon? I honestly hate those, from any brand. The tension seems to be a lot lower, and they're very clacky.

Smoother than black nylon from Labella at least. If ya don't like tapes- then, no. Skip em. But they do have a bit of the round brightness with a good thud still and feel smooth.

Tension wise do they feel the same as the blacks?

The Rotosound 77's are pretty bright.

funny, i'd want the opposite. Rounds that sound like flats. Flats have too much tension and feel too "big" to me. I feel all ham-fisted when I try to play & it actually affects my time. Love the sound, though!

Labella makes low-tension flats. Also TI's are generally regarded as lower tension.

True, I actually have TI's on my P-bass right now. It helps a lot with the tension (actually I think they have less tension than most rounds!), but they still feel "big", and I feel like I lose all my fine motor control with them... I get gorilla hands.

I'm actually not sure what these one are that I have. They are definitely lighter than other .45-.105's that I have.

So what do you mean they play big? Are they still too tight?

I second that reccomendation. As for feel, they do indeed feel much smoother than black tapes.

So what do you mean they play big? Are they still too tight?

The TI's spcifically are not too tight.. they do however feel "cluncky"/"big"
