Soundgear by Ibanez; what model is this?

I just dug out my old Instruction Manual that came with my SR800.
I stand corrected.
My bass has the "Omni Adjust" bridge.
Glad I looked.
Ibanez should seriously consider bringing this bridge back. *hint hint*

It's an 800. I'm not sure, but I thought 500's didn't have the back of the neck painted, and the bridge was different, and the knobs were in a diamond pattern, while the 800 is a parallelogram. The bridge looks like an Accucast IV, which is what 800's had back then. The Omni-adjust bridge was only used from '87 to about '91. The pickups with red lettering were the Lo-Z's, and also were used from '87 to '91. The white lettered pickups are AFR's.

This thread confirms what I thought my 1996 Ibanez from japan is an 800. I wanted to add I bought this one new and it is a great bass. It has given me years of use without any problems.
I just recently got the itch to buy another bass and wound up buying a 2008 sr1000 emf prestige. It is made in Korea but contrary to what I have read around here the quality is excellent.
The fit and finish is remarkable for a factory built instrument. Don't be afraid to buy a Korean made version. Other than the paint vs natural wood and neckthru design and obviously the pickups both basses feel great and are very similar.

there's always the ibanez register for that sort of things. When you look at the number of SRs that they produced over the years, it's quite astonishing.

EDIT : Google Chrome flags the old gallery link as being loaded with a Trojan. I don't know if that's accurate though. So beware.

I was right about the neck; also, the '90's 500's were made in Korea, just like the new ones. And the headstock logo is silver paint, not chrome.

I'd love to see Ibanez come out with a new Soundgear that has a larger body while maintaining the same dimensional ratios. I absolutely love my SR800 but it has always felt like the body was just a little too small. Call it the SR800XL or something like that. Plus I'd like to see the P/J pickup configuration make a comeback.
One of the reasons I got rid of my SR500 was that I didn't like the Barts that came with it and the replacement choices were extremely limited unlike P/J pickups.
...and of course bring back the "omni adjust" bridge.

Hey thank you all for the information! But looking at the catalog pages, it looks more like the SR800JM, the finish on it in the catalog page is exactly the one I have. I just noticed however, the top two knobs im guessing were replaced because they are different on my bass than in the catalog. I'll take more pictures tomorrow when there is better lighting.

Your SR has an unusual serial for a Cortek made bass. Usually they start with a '0' to give the year but it looks like yours goes in the following order;
C- Cortek (cort/ Korea)
4 - 1994
2 - feburary
4945 - build number

nice sr btw...i love natural neck finishes!:bassist:
