Soundgear Praise

I recently upgraded my Ibanez Soundgear and got a Stingray HH. I just thought I'd give my old Bass some "Props". I bought my SR500 over 10 years ago and played numerous shows with it. It was thrown around, never cleaned, traveled across the country, etc.... All the knobs still are solid, neck is still straight and the finish still looks good. I don't know if the new Soundgears are as good, but I still like my $300 Bass!

Last year at one of my wife's associates' Christmas party, I played a Soundgear he had bought so he could play along with his son who is taking guitar lessons. An SR400 if I recall correctly. Really not a bad bass at all! Felt solid and had a nice punchy sound. One of the knobs had some crackle in it but that's not an earth-shattering issue.

It's a solid bass. I don't own one - I have a Yamaha which is also a solid bass - but I played one the other day and liked it. It had a small body. That's something I really like about my Yamaha.

my complaints of ibanez basses have always been the necks and tone, 2 completely subjective things. The build quality has always been pretty good on the ones ive played. Nice basses if your into them, def worth the money. Now the ATK is a different story, love that bass.

I don't get why Ibanez basses are ragged on so much. My 5 are fine instruments, and all the others I've sampled have been good too.

i have a love/hate relationship with this bass

somehow, i blew the preamp in it when it was active and then had a bart installed in the front and kept the original J-pup. this thing sounded brutal, ballsy, metallic and mega-harsh when i had the original p-pups in it now its a little fatter, still got the balls and alot more like a p-bass i think.

the stacked tone controls dont work, the J-pup is terrible and midway is just ok. i keep it always switched on the bart. i like it alot more without the cut/boost crap. simplicity

its a bit of a lemon now perhaps but i cant decide if i want to sell it for cash toward my Zon/Modulus/Status/Aria dream or keep it and pimp it up more lol!

I love my Soundgear 800, loved the one I used to have and will undoubtably love the one I just won on ebay. My only complaint is that except for the first year of production, they only made them in black for us lefties. The current 500's are sweet too, and I plan on getting one soon.

I gigged a SR505 for over 10 years! Not a single issue with the bass!

SR500 = bubinga/wenge neck, mahogany body, Bartolini pickups - all for a moderate price. I'd say there's no competition It looks very slick, but the sound is quite the opposite: fat, aggressive, roaring mids Now (for the moment) I prefer the EDBs (especially the 550), but I love all my Ibanez. They rule!

I honestly think some people rate gear based on the price tag more than anything else. Of course, many people may just not like Ibanezes of a certain model, but there many who read the name the headstock and make up their minds based on that alone.

my SR505 was my main bass for 7 years. Built like a tank, served me well. I ALWAYS recommend soundgear basses to budget minded folks looking for a good all around bass.

i used to have a sr800jm that i traded for a hartke cab..boy what a mistake that was.

so anyway, I loveed the tone of the bass when it had fresh strings. nevr had a problem with the bass at all. only thing I didnt like was the tiny neck. if the neck was more of a p, then I may have kept it.

I had an SRX. It was the first bass I bought for myself. Played great, was put togther quite nicely for a $300.00 bass and had some serious output. I only wish it had a three band EQ. I could never get that mid-scooped tone out of it.

One of my friends has a Japanese SR3005 Prestige model. I have tried to buy it off of him twice and he never is willing to sell it. He almost never plays it either. It's a really nice quality bass, very nice construction, and Bartonini's with the 3 band Ibanez preamp. Nice warm tone with lots of options.

I will own it someday.

I had an Ibanez SRX390. It felt good but I didn't care for the sound of it. About 2 months ago I bought an Ibby SR500(4 string). I really like the bass a lot. It looks good, feels good, plays good, and sounds good. I also have a Fender Jazz but I use it as a back up, I prefer the SR500.

I continue to be amazed with the day to day versatility and adaptability of my ATK700. It does everything really well, feels good, looks good, and has stolen the heart of an old, dyed in the wool Fender guy (I do own five Fenders and only one Ibanez, but that could change soon).

ive always wanted the 5 string version of my one, a bass teacher i once had used to play one and it was bad-ass!!! have not seen em around alot except for one on Ebay the other day.

have an srx705 ... i love the looks and the feel and sound of it but never had much use for a 5 string... i bought it 4 years ago and just recently started to really play it a lot when i set up my yamaha rbx270 fo drop C tuning... i absolutely love both of them... the ibanez is one of the best feeling 5 strings ive played imo... the spacing is fairly wide... the tone is loud and it looks amazing

I used to have a SRX705. It was solid. The hardware wore pretty fast, but all else was good. I really dug the dual humbuckers in it.
