Lord, we need a sticky for this one...
Dean, unless your bridge is a rotting piece of pot-metal, a new bridge won't change anything except A) how it looks and B) how you feel about it.
Now, if the current bridge is rusty/funky and doesn't keep the strings stable, a new bridge is a dandy idea. Otherwise, spend you money elsewhere.

I agree with above BTW.
I tend to disagree with BigOldHarry and bassbully. I have two Fender basses and have swapped bridges on both. The standard bent metal vintage style bridge that comes stock on the Fenders sounds much - much different than a high mass bridge does. That is why I asked what kind of bass you have. The Fender vintage style bridge seems to promote more low mids and has more of a round tone pillowy tone to it. I find that the high mass bridges are a little tighter sounding, almost a more "compressed" sound. This is just my experience. I ended up switching back to the standard vintage style bridges on my Fenders as I like the tone better.
That depends because you get what you pay for. If you bought a BAII for $10 then don't get your hopes up. If You bought a BAII for $100, it'll make your bass sound like a boutique bass with sustain that'll last for days.
