Source Audio Collider Delay + Reverb

Such a cool pedal, I think it’s really going to please the portion of the market that doesn’t want to mess around too much with apps and editors. Awesome name and graphics too

Anyone get one yet and play with it? How does it sound on bass?

Am trying to decide between this and the Strymon Volante (demo's sound beautiful, not sure how it will be on bass tho).

I like the dual engine and seems not too hard to program, and the demo on guitar sounded great.

anyone know if the source audio reflex pedal will work with this using the proprietary SA connector?

Fed-Ex says by end of day Tuesday. Will share impressions. Am unaware of the reflex pedal compatibility.

A day earlier than expected. Impressions in next few days- will be trying on bass as well as keys, guitars and probably as a vocal effect so the kids can have fun with a microphone later today.

Just visual and tactile impressions during unboxing imply very high quality- as SA has always been.

The Volante is fantastic on bass, and I like the physical interface more than I liked having to dive into the digital realm with my Nemesis delay. That said, they're different beasts altogether. If you need delay + reverb in one box with a smaller footprint, the Collider seems like a good bet.

I'm hoping just to use the 1/8" SA proprietary connection (since its not in use now), but I could do MIDI as well since the reflex has 3 (2?) MIDI channels it can send data to.

Yep any of those outputs will work with collider, doesn’t matter which. Or which external control jack on collider you use.

If you want a really amazing box that really does all the classic tape delays, and more within that realm...the Volante is probably the thing. I have an original Japanese issue Space Echo and access to a Fulltone tape delay and still have twinges of desire for the Volante just to have one.

Not @DrMole , but I've had the Collider for about a month now, and while not expert in its usage as yet, I hope to dive into it more tonight, and actually use my amp, as I've stuck to direct into my interface for all my playing around with the Collider (8-10 hours?), excepting one band practice. At the practice, I thought the mix seemed much more wet than what I thought I had dialed in, and even backing down, it seemed to spike back if I dug in a little bit, hence the desire to play with my amp at home. The tones I've found, and the combinations are just fantastic, and everything I would hope for from Source Audio, I just have to get it better situated mix-wise. The Collider is replacing the SA Dimension Reverb and EHX Canyon, both fantastic pedals. Of the delays, I'm liking the Oil Can quite a bit. On the Reverb side, Shimmer is of course my favorite, but digging the Swell, and have always liked E-Dome for chasmic sounds. I like the Freeze function as well, just have to become more adept in using it.

Quick verdict after playing straight into GK MB212 II Combo:
Sounds are superb and delay and reverb options taken from the dedicated pedals suffice to cover all but the most distant sonic territory.
The oil can delay with the spring reverb became preset #1.

The pedal is easily usable, out of the box- just plug and twist.
I really haven't gotten into any Neuro programming or any deep programming.
This is just fun to use in the physical world.
Plenty of control to satisfy my semi-Luddite ways, still lots of deep options when needed.

Honestly see this as more guitar focused- also a great keyboard pedal.

Reverb is pretty low on my bass- effects tone list but delay could have a sizable place. Having both in one place is cool, being able to make a dual delay using the second dsp for another delay- very cool.

Going to still try on guitar and keyboards. Suspect the level of useful flavor enhancement will be even more apparent .

No plans to sell or trade the Collider. Just way too much sound in one pedal.

Have either of you got plans to use this pedal with MIDI? Or dive deeper with the Neuro App?

Haha, yeah the Oil Can is one of the reason I want to buy the pedal. :laugh:

Cool. Yeah I play guitar too, and a bit of keys on the odd occasion. Interested to see what you think here, I suspect bass is probably the worst of the three in showing what this pedal can do.

I've used the desktop editor, and will keep using that, but no plans for MIDI as yet. If/when I go all in on that, it would be the C4 mainly, but then would create enough presets on both to be worth the effort to learn MIDI.

Spent some time tonight with the Collider and C4 and the desktop editor, rolling my mix back for my presets on the Collider, and made some new presets. Downloaded some for the C4 as well, and tweaked them a bit, and dialed back some of the levels on the existing presets I had. Was still using headphones, but hopefully will be getting another full practice in for Black Friday to see how well they sit in a band mix. Was getting lost at some points just playing with the sounds, trying to improvise some riffs. Always forget how much fun delay can be...
