I was actually less interested in using the hot hand with the whammy and more interested in using program changes to have the whammy on certain settings for certain scenes.

Sounds like a lot of fun. So If I get the hub+midi controller can i have a dirt sound on scene 1 then a dirt sound with whammy +1 on scene 2 then a harmony shift setting on scene 3? That's really what I want to accomplish without bending over to turn the whammy dial each time.

well it depends on the midi controller you get as to how it's setup.

1 midi channel controller (like midi mouse): you stack your scenes, meaning if you want the Whammy on a preset, but the SB2 pedal on bypass, make that Program Change 2, then Peogram Change 1 would have Whammy and SB2's in bypass for a clean preset. Program Change 3 could recall whammy preset+SB2 pedals, etc. Every 'scene' including the whammy needs a PC#. With the midi mouse you can organize them with bypass presets peppered inbetween fx scenes and scoll thru them.


multi midi channel controller (like FCB101) you'd assign the hub/SB2's to midi channel 1 and whammy to midi channel 2 (or whatever), then you can make controller presets control them separely. So this gives more of a stomp box setup. you you can turn whammy on/off at any time and not change your SB2 scene unless you setup that preset to change both. More control.

Well, I thought those must be the posts you were talking about (which is why I quoted them) but they're not on page 12, they're on page 6 (on my computer, Mac, using Chrome as a browser). I suspect that's why people are confused ... according to what I'm looking at, this thread hasn't reached page 12 yet.

how exactly are you powering the SB2 pedals? i have an SKB powered pedalboard but haven't had much lucky using the onboard power supply working with my BEFpro, MWBDpro and dimension reverb…its kinda annoying lugging around an extra power strip with 3 wall warts on it but i do it anyways cause i love the gear

Time to graduate to a Big Boy power supply! Yay, more money!

You'll need something like the Voodoo Labs Pedal Power Mondo, 4x4 or digital or a Cioks DC10, Schizophrenic or Ciokolate. All depends on how many high current you'll be running in total.

It's a bit of an investment, but you'll be able to get rid of all your wall warts and you'll have isolated power lines, so no noise issues.

I'm currently running the 4x4, but am switching to the DC10 for my new board. Using 4 SB2 pedals with the hub and midi controlled, with a couple analog devices to power as well.

I've been thinking about getting an M5 for this. It seems like a great option...cost is comparable to the Gecko, plus you get all of the effects the M5 has to offer. In my case, I could probably sell my tuner and delay pedals, which would make the M5 setup more cost effective than using the Gecko.

Yes, the M5 will send MIDI PC with each patch change on the M5. Works without issue in that regard.

However, there are a couple potential issues to be aware of using the M5:

* Each specific effect enabled on the M5 will automatically send a corresponding MIDI CC. This is documented in one of the Line6 addendums. The MIDI CC cannot be turned off nor modified. This is important to note as the various Source Audio SB2 pedals have their parameters mapped to specific MIDI CC. So there's a chance that your Line6 M5 effect could be applying unwanted parameter modifications to your Source Audio SB2 effects.
* The M5 can only support 24 patches maximum.

Otherwise it's a perfectly fine choice to use as a MIDI controller for the Hub. You get a tuner, another FX block, a LCD that can store and display fairly long patch names, and they're pretty cheap on the used market these days.

I can't get the Copy function on the hub to work as instructed in the manual. It says to hold the copy button, make the Program Change, and hold the Copy button again to Save Scene to the new location. (I've pasted the section from the manual below for reference).

When I do this I get LEDs blink slowly in confirmation just as described in the manual, but nothing saves.

I wrote Source Audio, and they responded saying this function "tricked them up as well", and gave a different sequence of buttons: Hold Copy, program change, Press Copy again in order to copy your settings then Hold Save. This seems to work but isn't simple or intuitive as the manual description. Source then told me the manual is incorrect, but I find it hard to believe that I haven't seen any other issues regarding the Copy function not working reported here or on other sites if people were trying to follow the manual. I'm pretty sure I'm not the first one to have tried to use the copy function.

I'm just trying to figure out if there's an issue with my Hub. BTW, the firmware for the pedals and hub are all up to date, and all other functions work perfectly.

Um, I don't get why you are asking if your hub is defective. They told you the manual was wrong, they gave you correct way to do it, which you verified worked, so I'm not sure what the issue is here. (other than the manual being wrong of course)

To be honest, I've only used the copy functionality a couple of times when I first started beta testing the hub. When I create a new scene I've tended to start from scratch, so I'd probably would have had to look it up before I copy my next one.

It seems it's a simple typo. The SAVE button is always used to save the scene data.

So it should read "Press and hold the Save button to complete the Scene Save to the new location."

I use the Copy feature frequently during functional testing as I tend to make a single change from one scene to the next as it makes it easy to visually and audibly hear the change.
