Source Audio Sorcerers Society (S.A.S.S) Part 3

I'm in! I got a manta and an aftershock a couple of weeks ago. I think I'm going to sell a coupe of pedals to get a couple more one series pedals... and maybe an OFD...

Hey guys, I think I need some help. I have Multiwave Bass, Manta, Dimension and Nemesis connected to the HUB.
I also have HH3 and Reflex and I would like to have them both sending messages to the HUB by sensor cable but I'm not sure if that is even possible. Will I have to use the Reflex by MIDI and the HH3 by sensor cable?

I don't think there is a way to have two sensor inputs into the Hub. So you would need HH3 -> Hub via sensor, and Reflex -> Hub via 1/4" TRS or MIDI.

So my hub seems to be playing up a little bit. I am using a BOSS Es-5 to send midi info and switch scenes in the hub. What I am finding is that I will change scene and the aftershock will change sounds (like it is suppose to), and a few seconds in it will change sounds again to a default drive sound- that I have not chosen. To get back to the original sound I chose I will have to change patch and then go back to the original patch.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

I'll do MIDI then.
BTW, about my previous question here, so it's really true that the HUB messes up the MIDI thru a bit... If I send messages just for the Nemesis for instance it works great but if I try to send to HUB, Nemesis, EQ and M9 most of the time either the Nemesis or the EQ miss the message. Strange thing however is that I have the M9 connected to the Nemesis Thru and it never fails to change preset...

The Nemesis is newer and likely has better MIDI processing. The Hub is weak in that department; my advice is to don't use the Thru, and if you send a batch of MIDI command then try to send the Hub's command first.

I have had this exact same experience, with only a few details different. I wasn't using an Aftershock (Bass OFD and Manta instead) or ES-8 (various other stuff).

I am curious, can you change your "Scene 0" sound and tell me if that is the sound that you default back to? That's what was happening with mine---whatever was saved as Scene 0, the Hub would default back to after a few seconds. I changed Scene 0 to be a "null" scene---a scene with no pedals in it---and that partially fixed the problem, but it still means I can't use the Hub as intended. Because even if the sound doesn't switch, the Hub has reverted to Scene 0, so you can't save a new scene to a new location. I can only create and save scenes through the Hub Manager.

Source Audio went through a lot of work to figure it out (which I appreciate), but ultimately couldn't. The Beat Buddy seemed to be the source of my problems---disconnect it and the problems stop---but I never totally found that an acceptable answer (SA also couldn't replicate it with a Beat Buddy of their own). Given the problems other people have recently been talking about with their Hubs, it does seem to me to be another case of the Hub not interpreting MIDI correctly when being fed a MIDI clock signal.

As more people try using the Hub in complex MIDI and effects switching systems its weak processing shows ... maybe time for a more powerful Mark II?

I would rather not have to buy a second generation unit until there is a greater acknowledgment/understanding of what is going on with the current version. Would it be completely beyond the scope of the current Hub to fix these issues, or is the memory that limited?

I don't have any inside info of course, but I suspect the Hub is pretty much maxed out as is. Maybe it can be tweaked a bit but from what I understand there is not room for serious message buffering for instance.

Does anyone know whether Source Audio Dual Expression Pedal can control Digitech BP355? Digitech has its own built-in expression pedal and input impedance is stated as 500 k ohms. When I tried to connect dual expression pedal, apparently it gave no sound, maybe I am doing something wrong? Connected it to 2nd output, 1st output is connected to MWBD2 through sensor output and works fine with it, enlighten me please :hyper:

Wow. It does seem to default back to scene 0. Will try and null this scene later today.

I did seem to recall someone else having a similar problem so I am very grateful for your input @Adamixoye

I'm totally fine with just editing scenes via the hub software, if this fixes the issue I will be stoked.

Well...I'm hoping that someone else having this problem will lead to some addressing of this issue. I don't want to have to use the Hub Manager every time I want to edit the scene, it's all been a big kludge so far. But I'm glad I could help!

It worked. Thankyou very much.

I understand it is not suppose to happen but I can work with this situation. before I would get half way through a riff and then the sound would drastically change.. extremely frustrating.

Thanks again.

The One Series pedals have turned the Hub into an incredibly complicated piece of hardware that is being way over taxed beyond its initial mandate, which was to give MIDI and expression control to the Soundblox 2 pedals. If you think about it from that perspective, it is amazing it does what it does.....and for $99.

It is not a perfect solution, but it remains a powerful means to give simple pedals more smarts and control. Many of you are using it to eh max, and we will do our best to support that.

Someday we will find a way to make it more seamless.
