Source Audio Sourcerers Society (S.A.S.S.) Pt 2

Hi guys I hope im posting in the right place... if not I'm sorry (new here) I ordered a Bass envelope filter but received a Guitar envelope filter... is there any difference? because the specs on your site say they are the same... is it worth me sending it back for a swap or shall i just crack on with the one i have? I'm in the UK so would be a slight hassle :)

Thanks

Steve

(sorry again if in the wrong section)

This is the right place! Yes, you need to swap this. Very sorry for this mistake! Please contact Strings and Things Ltd. in the UK (our distributor) or one of our dealer. They will fix you up!

Say hello to my little friends. Just show up in my office today!!! ImageUploadedByTalkBass1367963197.144896.jpg

Hey hosebass,

My recommendation is to start by finding the basic settings for each pedal that work best with your bass and then tweak out from there. The important ones for this are the FREQ knob on the BEF Pro and the DRIVE knob on the Multiwave Pro. Just crank the SWEEP RANGE knob on the BEF Pro for starters so you can really get the character of each effect. Then, just try out the different effects on the center wheel and see what you like!

NOW. To give you some fun presets...we sent a BEF Pro to Bootsy Collins and I pre-loaded 6 presets for him and wrote out the following explanations for each:

*This is super top secret S.A.S.S. material only.

Preset 1 (green)
Quacky Funk - a slow and dirty envelope filter that has some of the character of an EHX Bassballs.
Expression Pedal secret weapon: The Attack is set slow and dirty. To give you more control, I set the expression input is to Speed so that the attack will get quicker as you rock the Dual Expression pedal forward.

Setting: 2 Pole Low Pass #6
-The Q is set slightly lower than normal
-Sweep is at 60% positive
-Wet/Dry is set to maximum Lo-Retain
-EQ: boost in bass, slight boost in highs.

Preset 2 (green)
Shoonk – a laser like negative filter sweep sound that has some of the character of a Groove Regulator.
Expression Pedal secret weapon: The expression input is set to Sweep Range so that rocking the Dual Expression pedal forward will get you a normal, positive filter sweep.

Setting: 2 Pole Low Pass #3
-The Q is set slightly lower than normal
-Sweep is set to 60% negative
-Wet/Dry is set to maximum Lo-Retain
-EQ: boost in bass, cut in highs

Preset 3 (green)
Wah Pedal – use the Dual Expression Pedal as a conventional wah with a sound that has the character of an MXR BEF or Crybaby wah.
Expression Pedal secret weapon: Pretty self-explanatory…it controls the modulation. You could tinker around with some envelope or LFO settings to get some wacky combinations with the wah pedal.

Setting: Single Peak #13
-The Q is set to its normal setting
-Sweep is set to its neutral position to deactivate Envelope
-EQ: slight boost to lows, mids, and highs

Preset 4 (red)
Slow Phaser – a slight effect that adds some extra sexiness.
Expresson Pedal secret weapon: Increase the sweep range of the phaser by rocking the Dual Expression pedal forward.

Setting: Phaser #21
-The Q is set to its normal setting
-LFO is set to sine wave at a slow speed

Preset 5 (red)
Hot Hand – it would be criminal to not set you up to use our Hot Hand motion controller.

Setting: Single Peak #12
-Speed knob is set to fastest X-axis setting (Hot Hand mode)
-Sweep Range is at maximum positive
-Wet/Dry is set to maximum Lo-Retain

Preset 6 (red)
Square Synth – my favorite setting on the BEF, used it for the opening riff in the song for the Slurple Gurp video.
Expression Pedal secret weapon: Control the speed with the Dual Expression Pedal. If you want the starting speed to be slower, you’ll have to adjust the Speed setting on the preset.

Setting: 4 Pole Low Pass #9
-The Q is set to its minimum setting
-LFO is set to square wave
-Sweep Range is at maximum positive
-Wet/Dry is set to maximum Wet

shared settings are neaaaaaaaat.

urm. i forget if this was covered earlier. with the HH3 being powered off of just plugging the interface cable into a Source box, will it still be fine without it's own power supply if you chain from the plugged in Source box to a second one? i'm.... kinda thinking about getting a Bass Multiwave 2.

REALLY WANT THE BEF2 TO COME OUT. but i think i'll have room for both and they DO do some interesting tricks whilst plugged into each other and HH thumb wobbled.
