Is there any way to easily distinguish a HH2 from a HH3? I'm planning on selling my older HH now that I've upgraded and don't want to somehow accidently sell the wrong one.

I can see a little red wire in the HH I'm pretty confident is the newer one (the HH3). Is this a safe assumption?

The HH3 ring has a distinct "click" when the on/off button is depressed. The HH2 did not and it was hard to tell if you had actually succeeded in doing so. If this test does not work, I can check on the red wire issue too when I get to the office.

The Red Wire is indeed a good way to tell. Red wire=HH3

Hey rsmith, since you (SA) already have a modelling pedal are you thinking on making one of those preamp+DI pedals that (almost) everyone has?

I know that is kind of a beaten trail but I believe SourceAudio can make this kind of pedal to be like a smaller cheaper alternative to a Line6 board or even an AxeFx and not go into direct competition with stuff like the Darkglass or the Sansamp.

We did the OFD, because we had lots of experience with the Classic Distortion, and it seemed that if we put this into the SB2 housing....and really worked hard to get the models perfect for bass players.....that we could have a really unique product. The OFD offers all of you something that you cannot match without lots of expensive boutique analog pedals. I know there are some multi-effects products out there, but they have a much bigger footprint and it is not clear that they invested the time we have to carefully dial in each sound for bass applications.

It is not clear that we have much new to add to the Pre Amp + DI space. It is already done quite well by at least 2 companies.

Multi-effects is a tough one. Yes, we could do it, but it is not clear that this is what people want right now. Multi-effects sales are way down for Line 6, Boss and Digitech.

Our comfort zone is the single effect type powerhouse. You want the best collection of Filters? Want the best collections of Reverbs? Want the best collection of Multiband distortions? Want the best collection of Fuzzes and ODs? Want the best collection of modulation effects? We then enhance the experience by offering a powerful system of communication and control options. The Hot Hand, Expression Pedal, the new Hub and the EQ are intended to support the whole picture.

I suppose we are trying to occupy the space between discrete analog pedals and multi-effect pedals, were we can offer something unique and valuable to our customers. Hope this helps!

I might not have explained my point correctly. To put it simple, why not an "OFD" (maybe swap some of the models by other ones) with a built-in DI?
IMO, what you have to add is exactly what you described, a digital preamp-DI with small footprint and high quality sound and not as expensive as some other options.

In any case, I understand what you said and agree that a company like SA has to find the niches or else it will be just another one.

Ah, got it. Sorry.

I think this will depend on the success of the OFD. If the OFD is a big hit and people love the selection of tones, then we will certainly look to build on that success. Keep your fingers crossed!!

Has anyone ever had any latency problem with the tap tempo on their BEFs. It is absolutely useless in my opinion. I can tap it right along the with the metronome and it doesn't register for a slip second and is about 5 clicks slower than the tempo I tapped in. Anyone have problems with this?

Hmm. That is really strange. We have used the tap tempo here A LOT on both the BEF Pro and the Poly-Mod filter. This is a key feature of the pedal and was not added in haphazardly!

I am going to recommend that you send us your exact set up (effect type - LFO type, approx BMP) etc. and we will see if we can recreate the issue. Please use [email protected] We will respond ASAP!

Not a stupid question, actually. On the BEF Pro the expression input DOES NOT affect the sensor output.

However, on the original Hot Hand Wah, the expression output was the sum of the sensor in plus the expression input.

It is a good question.

Lets say that you have a preset on preset 1. Make your tweaks. When you get to a place you like, you can press and hold footswitch 2 until it blinks. This will save all of your tweaks to preset 1 over to preset 2 without altering preset 1. You do need to sacrifice anything which might have been on preset 2. Obviously, the options to do sort of thing expand significantly when using the new Hub box, because it has the ability to read and save all parameters in any SB2 pedal.

The hardware and software is 99.9% complete at this stage. Beta testers have given the thumbs up. Some things to note:

We are aware that the BEF Pro does not cover quite all of the filter types that you all rave about. We have sought to cover this gap.

In addition to envelope modulation, there are 3 shapes of LFO waveforms, tap tempo, etc. We also allow for a mix of ENV and LFO, which is cool. Doing the Orbital gave us lots of new thinking about how to use the SB2 interface to control lots of things in modulation pedals.

There are also 8 types of distortion which can be added in at a selectable drive level. There is something about embedding distortion into the box which our testers have seen as a nice enhancement to having it out of the box.

The manual needs work. The graphics panels need to be manufactured. These are not complicated items, but they do take some time. We are seeking ways to rush some units to market so that I can keep to my November prediction.

It is a really powerful little pedal, both stand-alone and especially with the Hub.

Thanks Roger, that makes sense.

I understand it might increase the complexity and price to have a dedicated edit buffer, but for me personally it would make a big difference to have a button that would toggle between the current edit and the last saved version. Also, if it were persistent, that could double as a solution to the "problem" that unsaved tweaks are lost when you bypass the effect. If you wanted the last tweak you made, you could just hit the edit/compare button.

Just thinking out loud... :)
